Microangiography: an Alternative Tool for Assessing Severe Frostbite Injury.

08:00 EDT 12th July 2019 | BioPortfolio

Summary of "Microangiography: an Alternative Tool for Assessing Severe Frostbite Injury."

Assessment of frostbite injury typically relies on computed tomography, angiography, or nuclear medicine studies to detect perfusion deficits prior to thrombolytic therapy. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential of a novel imaging method, microangiography, in the assessment of severe frostbite injury.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Classification system for assessing impact injury severity developed and published by the American Association for Automotive Medicine. It is the system of choice for coding single injuries and is the foundation for methods assessing multiple injuries or for assessing cumulative effects of more than one injury. These include Maximum AIS (MAIS), Injury Severity Score (ISS), and Probability of Death Score (PODS).

A physical injury caused by exposure of the body to extremely low ambient temperatures that may lead to loss of body parts, or in extreme cases, death. Examples of cold injury are FROSTBITE and CHILBLAINS.

Deliberate severe and repeated injury to one domestic partner by the other.

Damage to tissues as the result of low environmental temperatures.

A process whereby multiple RNA transcripts are generated from a single gene. Alternative splicing involves the splicing together of other possible sets of EXONS during the processing of some, but not all, transcripts of the gene. Thus a particular exon may be connected to any one of several alternative exons to form a mature RNA. The alternative forms of mature MESSENGER RNA produce PROTEIN ISOFORMS in which one part of the isoforms is common while the other parts are different.
