Summary of "Utility of Endobronchial Ultrasound in Assessment of Intrathoracic Lesions in Paediatric Patients."

In adults, linear endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) is the preferred modality to sample intrathoracic adenopathy and radial EBUS is a useful tool to biopsy peripheral pulmonary nodules. Utility in children is less well known.

Utility of Radial Probe Endobronchial Ultrasound-Guided Transbronchial Lung Biopsy in Diffuse Lung Lesions.

Radial probe endobronchial ultrasound (R-EBUS) is widely used for diagnosing peripheral pulmonary lesions. However, the utility of R-EBUS-guided transbronchial lung biopsy (TBLB) for diffuse lung lesi...

Ultrasound non-invasive intracranial pressure assessment in paediatric neurocritical care: a pilot study.

The assessment of intracranial pressure (ICP) is essential in the management of neurocritical care paediatric patients. The gold standard for invasive ICP is an intraventricular catheter or intraparen...

Diagnostic Accuracy of Endobronchial Ultrasound Transbronchial Needle Aspiration in Lymphoma: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

Endobronchial ultrasound with transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is a minimally invasive method used to diagnose suspected mediastinal lymph nodes or masses. However, the accuracy of the dia...

Diagnostic Performance of Radial Probe Endobronchial Ultrasound without a Guide-Sheath and the Feasibility of Molecular Analysis.

Radial probe endobronchial ultrasound (R-EBUS), is effective for tissue diagnosis of lung lesions. We evaluated the diagnostic performance of R-EBUS both a guide-sheath and fluoroscopy and identified ...

Ultrasound of the pediatric chest.

Cross-sectional imaging modalities like MRI and CT provide images of the chest which are easily understood by clinicians. However, these modalities may not always be available and are expensive. Lung ...

Utility of Endobronchial Ultrasound in the Investigation of Suspected Lung Cancer.

Bronchoscopy of non visible lesions in the lung, have a low diagnostic yield. The use of endoscopic ultrasound might increase the diagnostic yield. This prospective study randomises betwee...

Endobronchial Ultrasound-Guided Transbronchial Needle Aspiration Using a 22 vs 25-Gauge Needle

The goal of this clinical research study is to compare the effectiveness of a smaller, 25-gauge needle when used in an endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBU...

Diagnosis of Lung Lesions by Endobronchial Ultrasound With an Alternative Guide Sheath

The purpose of this study is to examine the usefulness of a balloon covered sheath as a guide sheath in endobronchial ultrasound guided transbronchial biopsy and bronchial brushing cytolog...

Prevalence and Location of Intra-Procedural Atelectasis Detected by Radial-Probe Endobronchial Ultrasound During Peripheral Bronchoscopy Under General Anesthesia

The goal of this clinical research study is to learn if and how often a standard procedure called endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) may cause ate...

Rapid On-site Evaluation of Endobronchial Ultrasound Guided Transbronchial Needle Aspiration Samples by Pulmonologists

The study is aimed at verifying if a pulmonologist in training can reliably assess the adequacy of EBUS-TBNA samples from intrathoracic lymphadenopathy after a period of training provided ...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

The use of ultrasound to guide minimally invasive surgical procedures such as needle ASPIRATION BIOPSY; DRAINAGE; etc. Its widest application is intravascular ultrasound imaging but it is useful also in urology and intra-abdominal conditions.

The internal resistance of the BLOOD to shear forces. The in vitro measure of whole blood viscosity is of limited clinical utility because it bears little relationship to the actual viscosity within the circulation, but an increase in the viscosity of circulating blood can contribute to morbidity in patients suffering from disorders such as SICKLE CELL ANEMIA and POLYCYTHEMIA.

Tissue ablation of the PROSTATE performed by ultrasound from a transducer placed in the RECTUM. The procedure is used to treat prostate cancer (PROSTATIC NEOPLASMS) and benign prostatic hypertrophy (PROSTATIC HYPERPLASIA).

Systematic identification of a population's needs or the assessment of individuals to determine the proper level of services needed.

Evaluation procedures that focus on both the outcome or status (OUTCOMES ASSESSMENT) of the patient at the end of an episode of care - presence of symptoms, level of activity, and mortality; and the process (ASSESSMENT, PROCESS) - what is done for the patient diagnostically and therapeutically.
