Summary of "Efficacy of flap repair for anal fistula: study protocol for a systematic review of randomized controlled trial."

Clinical trials have reported that flap repair (FR) can treat anal fistula (AF) effectively. However, no study systematically investigated its efficacy and safety for patients with AF. This study will systematically assess its efficacy and safety of AF.

External anal sphincter sparing Seton after rerouting of the fistula tract: video vignette.

Treatment of complex anal fistula (CAF) is challenging as it mandates a fine balance between the need to completely eradicate the pathology of the fistula tract and to preserve anal continence. To thi...

Drained Mucosal Advancement Flap Versus Rerouting Seton around the Internal Anal Sphincter in Treatment of High Trans-sphincteric Anal Fistula: a Randomized Trial.

Several sphincter saving techniques have been described for complex anal fistula (CAF) with variable outcomes. The present trial aimed to compare two techniques for CAF; the drained mucosal flap techn...

A Randomized Clinical Trial Comparing Surgisis AFP to Advancement Flap for the Repair of Anal Fistulas

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the Surgisis anal fistula plug is just as effective in healing anal fistulas as compared to the advancement flap procedure.

Ligation of Intersphincteric Fistula Tract (LIFT) Procedure Versus Use of an Anal Fistula Plug for Anal Fistula Repair

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Endonucleases that remove 5' DNA sequences from a DNA structure called a DNA flap. The DNA flap structure occurs in double-stranded DNA containing a single-stranded break where the 5' portion of the downstream strand is too long and overlaps the 3' end of the upstream strand. Flap endonucleases cleave the downstream strand of the overlap flap structure precisely after the first base-paired nucleotide, creating a ligatable nick.

A surgical procedure to correct MYOPIA by CORNEAL STROMA subtraction. It involves the use of a microkeratome to make a lamellar dissection of the CORNEA creating a flap with intact CORNEAL EPITHELIUM. After the flap is lifted, the underlying midstroma is reshaped with an EXCIMER LASER and the flap is returned to its original position.

An abnormal anatomical passage between the INTESTINE, and another segment of the intestine or other organs. External intestinal fistula is connected to the SKIN (enterocutaneous fistula). Internal intestinal fistula can be connected to a number of organs, such as STOMACH (gastrocolic fistula), the BILIARY TRACT (cholecystoduodenal fistula), or the URINARY BLADDER of the URINARY TRACT (colovesical fistula). Risk factors include inflammatory processes, cancer, radiation treatment, and surgical misadventures (MEDICAL ERRORS).

An abnormal anatomical passage that connects the VAGINA to other organs, such as the bladder (VESICOVAGINAL FISTULA) or the rectum (RECTOVAGINAL FISTULA).

A surgical technique to correct REFRACTIVE ERRORS of the EYE, such as MYOPIA and ASTIGMATISM. In this method, a flap of CORNEAL EPITHELIUM is created by exposure of the area to dilute alcohol. The flap is lifted and then replaced after laser ablation of the subepithelial CORNEA.
