Summary of "Results of left ventricular reconstruction with and without mitral valve surgery."

This study aims to compare the mid-term outcomes of left ventricular reconstruction with those of left ventricular reconstruction plus mitral valve surgery in patients with left ventricular aneurysm due to anterior myocardial infarction and moderate mitral regurgitation.

Results of left ventricular reconstruction with and without mitral valve surgery (Commentary).

Attachment of a migrated MitraClip to the left ventricular apex: A novel case report.

Herein, we report a novel case of emergency surgical mitral valve replacement for severe mitral valve regurgitation (MR) following MitraClip implantation (Abbott Laboratories, Chicago, IL, USA). Recur...

Predictors of Left Ventricular Dysfunction after Surgery for Degenerative Mitral Regurgitation.

This study was performed to determine if strain can supplement the ability of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) to predict post-op ventricular dysfunction in patients undergoing mitral valve (...

Left ventricular remodeling after mini-mitral repair-does the complexity of mitral disease matter?

Degenerative mitral valve (MV) regurgitation (MR) is associated with left ventricular (LV) dilatation. Surgical treatment of MR has been shown to favorably affect LV remodeling. We prospectively compa...

Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction from Preserved Leaflet after Mitral Valve Replacement.

Left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (LVOTO) can be caused by multiple factors. One of rare causes of LVOTO is preserved anterior mitral valve leaflet and chordal apparatus after mitral valve re...

To demonstrate that the Conveyor System can safely provide left ventricular access to deliver the SAPIEN 3 (Edwards Lifesciences, Irvine, California) transcatheter heart valve in patients ...

Percutaneous Mitral Valve Intervention: Predicting Improvements in Left Ventricular Performance

The purpose of this study is to assess the role of cardiac imaging combined with demographic, clinical, and biochemical parameters in predicting outcomes following percutaneous mitral valv...

Operative Mitral Valve Reconstruction in Functional mv Insufficiency With Reduced Systolic Ventricle Function

Functional mitral insufficiency poses a challenge with regard to the optimal time of intervention, particularly because they are frequently associated with left ventricular (LV) dilation a...

NHLBI DIR LAMPOON Study: Intentional Laceration of the Anterior Mitral Leaflet to Prevent Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction During Transcatheter Mitral Valve Implantation

Transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR) is an option to treat mitral valve failure when no surgical options exist. In as many as half of patients, TMVR can cause life-threatening blo...

Mitral Valve Reconstruction in Chronic Heart Failure (CHF): Identification of Predictors for a Successful Therapy

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Backflow of blood from the LEFT VENTRICLE into the LEFT ATRIUM due to imperfect closure of the MITRAL VALVE. This can lead to mitral valve regurgitation.

Abnormal protrusion or billowing of one or both of the leaflets of MITRAL VALVE into the LEFT ATRIUM during SYSTOLE. This allows the backflow of blood into left atrium leading to MITRAL VALVE INSUFFICIENCY; SYSTOLIC MURMURS; or CARDIAC ARRHYTHMIA.

A type of heart valve surgery that involves the repair, replacement, or reconstruction of the annulus of the MITRAL VALVE. It includes shortening the circumference of the annulus to improve valve closing capacity and reinforcing the annulus as a step in more complex valve repairs.

The valve between the left atrium and left ventricle of the heart.

A condition caused by underdevelopment of the whole left half of the heart. It is characterized by hypoplasia of the left cardiac chambers (HEART ATRIUM; HEART VENTRICLE), the AORTA, the AORTIC VALVE, and the MITRAL VALVE. Severe symptoms appear in early infancy when DUCTUS ARTERIOSUS closes.
