A first-pass, direct aspiration technique and stent retrieval with a balloon guide catheter represent advanced thrombectomy techniques that are increasingly being used in the clinical routine. The purpose of this experimental study was to evaluate whether the techniques' effectiveness depended on the clot composition and to visualize the interaction between the devices and the clot.

Sufficient guide catheter backup is crucial for successful percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). We have developed a new technique for locking a small child catheter to the vessel wall by balloon ...
We report the experience of the FlowGate (FG2) as a new balloon guide catheter (BGC) in endovascular stroke intervention.
Mechanical thrombectomies with balloon-guide catheters (BGC) are thought to improve successful recanalization rates and to decrease the incidence of distal emboli compared to thrombectomies without BG...
Although many studies have evaluated the retrieved thrombus to assess the cause of stroke after mechanical thrombectomy for acute large vessel occlusion, the results remain controversial. We investiga...
Little literature is available on mechanical thrombus aspiration in acute ischemic stroke with coincident ipsilateral unruptured aneurysm, especially with aneurysm proximal to the occlusion site. In t...
With mechanical thrombectomy now representing standard of care for treatment of acute ischemic stroke secondary to large vessel occlusion, identifying adjunctive techniques that result in ...
Intra-coronary thrombosis and thromboembolism continues to be a challenge for percutaneous coronary and other vascular interventional techniques. The Xtract™ Aspiration Catheter is a si...
The recent validation of thrombectomy in addition to thrombolysis with intravenous administration of alteplase suggests a major revolution in the management of acute strokes. This treatmen...
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of catheter-based thrombectomy for reperfusion by removing a thrombus in a cerebral blood vessel in patients with acute cerebral infarction (within 8 ho...
Study objective is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of acute permanent stenting of symptomatic intracranial stenosis following unsuccessful recanalization by thrombectomy in acute ische...
Widening of a stenosed HEART VALVE by the insertion of a balloon CATHETER into the valve and inflation of the balloon.
Placement of a balloon-tipped catheter into the pulmonary artery through the antecubital, subclavian, and sometimes the femoral vein. It is used to measure pulmonary artery pressure and pulmonary artery wedge pressure which reflects left atrial pressure and left ventricular end-diastolic pressure. The catheter is threaded into the right atrium, the balloon is inflated and the catheter follows the blood flow through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle and out into the pulmonary artery.
Use of a balloon catheter to block the flow of blood through an artery or vein.
Dilation of an occluded coronary artery (or arteries) by means of a balloon catheter to restore myocardial blood supply.
Techniques using laser energy in combination with a balloon catheter to perform angioplasty. These procedures can take several forms including: 1, laser fiber delivering the energy while the inflated balloon centers the fiber and occludes the blood flow; 2, balloon angioplasty immediately following laser angioplasty; or 3, laser energy transmitted through angioplasty balloons that contain an internal fiber.
Acute Coronary Syndromes ACS
Acute Coronary Syndromes (ACS) is an umbrella term for situations where the blood supplied to the heart muscle is suddenly blocked. Treatment for acute coronary syndrome includes medicines and a procedure known as angioplasty, during which doctors inflat...
A stent is a small mesh tube that's used to treat narrow or weak arteries. Arteries are blood vessels that carry blood away from your heart to other parts of your body. A stent is placed in an artery as part of a procedure called angioplasty. &...
