Artificial neural networks reveal individual differences in metacognitive monitoring of memory.

Previous work supports an age-specific impairment for recognition memory of pairs of words and other stimuli. The present study tested the generalization of an associative deficit across word, name, a...

Deep neural network models of sensory systems: windows onto the role of task constraints.

Sensory neuroscience aims to build models that predict neural responses and perceptual behaviors, and that provide insight into the principles that give rise to them. For decades, artificial neural ne...

Implementing artificial neural networks through bionic construction.

It is evident through biology research that, biological neural network could be implemented through two means: by congenital heredity, or by posteriority learning. However, traditionally, artificial n...

Artificial Neural Network: Understanding the Basic Concepts without Mathematics.

Machine learning is where a machine (i.e., computer) determines for itself how input data is processed and predicts outcomes when provided with new data. An artificial neural network is a machine lear...

Effects of individual and group metacognitive prompts on EFL reading comprehension and incidental vocabulary learning.

Recent research has highlighted the value of providing metacognitive guidance for learning English in a small group setting. This study investigated the effects that the presence or absence of metacog...

Psychological Factors In The Treatment Of Bipolar Mood Disorders

The aim of this study is to trial an intervention targeting potential deficits in an individual's ability to form, and reflect upon, ideas about themselves and others (known as metacogniti...

Neural Indices Associated With Relapse in Cannabis Dependence

The aim of this fMRI study is to investigate neural indices of relapse in cannabis dependence. The development and maintenance of drug addictions have been associated with deficits in cogn...

CPAP Titration Using an Artificial Neural Network: A Randomized Controlled Study

The purpose of the study is to determine the validity of the prediction model in reducing the rate of CPAP titration failure and in achieving a shorter time to optimal pressure

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of metacognitive therapy for insomnia.

Efficacy of Metacognitive Training for Schizophrenia - a Study Protocol

Metacognitive training (MCT) for schizophrenia has been used in several countries, but its efficacy remains unclear. MCT is a program group that consists of changing the cognitive infrastr...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Differences in measurable biological values, characteristics, or traits, within one individual under different conditions for the individual such as fasting, season of the year, age, or state of wellness.

A computer architecture, implementable in either hardware or software, modeled after biological neural networks. Like the biological system in which the processing capability is a result of the interconnection strengths between arrays of nonlinear processing nodes, computerized neural networks, often called perceptrons or multilayer connectionist models, consist of neuron-like units. A homogeneous group of units makes up a layer. These networks are good at pattern recognition. They are adaptive, performing tasks by example, and thus are better for decision-making than are linear learning machines or cluster analysis. They do not require explicit programming.

An early embryonic developmental process of CHORDATES that is characterized by morphogenic movements of ECTODERM resulting in the formation of the NEURAL PLATE; the NEURAL CREST; and the NEURAL TUBE. Improper closure of the NEURAL GROOVE results in congenital NEURAL TUBE DEFECTS.

A benign brain tumor composed of neural elements which most often arise from the SEPTUM PELLUCIDUM and the walls of the lateral ventricles. Immunohistochemistry and electron microscopy evaluations may reveal expression of neuron specific enolase and synaptophysin and cells containing microtubuli, neurosecretory granules, and presynaptic vesicles. Messages between computer users via COMPUTER COMMUNICATION NETWORKS. This feature duplicates most of the features of paper mail, such as forwarding, multiple copies, and attachments of images and other file types, but with a speed advantage. The term also refers to an individual message sent in this way.
