Summary of "Host-Response Subphenotypes Offer Prognostic Enrichment in Patients With or at Risk for Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome."

Classification of patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome into hyper- and hypoinflammatory subphenotypes using plasma biomarkers may facilitate more effective targeted therapy. We examined whether established subphenotypes are present not only in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome but also in patients at risk for acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARFA) and then assessed the prognostic information of baseline subphenotyping on the evolution of host-response biomarkers and clinical outcomes.

Subphenotypes of Cardiac Arrest Patients Admitted to Intensive Care Unit: a latent profile analysis of a large critical care database.

Cardiac arrest (CA) may occur due to a variety of causes with heterogeneity in their clinical presentation and outcomes. This study aimed to identify clinical patterns or subphenotypes of CA patients ...

Subtypes in patients with opioid misuse: A prognostic enrichment strategy using electronic health record data in hospitalized patients.

Approaches are needed to better delineate the continuum of opioid misuse that occurs in hospitalized patients. A prognostic enrichment strategy with latent class analysis (LCA) may facilitate treatmen...

Prognostic Role of the Immunoscore for Patients with Urothelial Carcinoma of the Bladder Who Underwent Radical Cystectomy.

Increasing evidence suggests that cancer progression is strongly influenced by the host immune response, which is represented by immune cell infiltrates. The T-lymphocyte-based Immunoscore is reported...

Prognostic significance of serum p53 antibody according to KRAS status in metastatic colorectal cancer patients.

Serum anti-p53 antibody is used clinically as a tumor marker of colorectal cancer. However, its prognostic significance in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) remains unclear. KRAS statu...

The prognostic value of platelet-lymphocyte ratio and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio in the treatment response and survival of patients with peripheral T-cell lymphoma.

Peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) is a rare and highly heterogeneous non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). Although a few prognostic models have been put forward to predict the prognosis of PTCL, some patients ...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A scale that assesses the response to stimuli in patients with craniocerebral injuries. The parameters are eye opening, motor response, and verbal response.

The immune responses of a host to a graft. A specific response is GRAFT REJECTION.

An immunological attack mounted by a graft against the host because of tissue incompatibility when immunologically competent cells are transplanted to an immunologically incompetent host; the resulting clinical picture is that of GRAFT VS HOST DISEASE.

Administration of vaccines to stimulate the host's immune response. This includes any preparation intended for active immunological prophylaxis.

Tendency of the smooth muscle of the tracheobronchial tree to contract more intensely in response to a given stimulus than it does in the response seen in normal individuals. This condition is present in virtually all symptomatic patients with asthma. The most prominent manifestation of this smooth muscle contraction is a decrease in airway caliber that can be readily measured in the pulmonary function laboratory.
