The advent of resistance-associated mutations in HIV-1 is a barrier to the success of the ARTs.
This article was published in the following journal.
Name: Current HIV research
Transmitted HIV-1 drug resistance (TDR) may affect the success of first-line antiretroviral treatment. The aim of this study was to monitor the presence of HIV-1 strains carrying transmitted drug resi...
Mass drug administration (MDA) of 20 mg/kg (maximum 1 g in adults) azithromycin for ocular (CT) infection is a key component of the WHO trachoma elimination strategy. However, this dose may be subopt...
Enterococcal infections comprise a wide range of diseases with increasing importance due to the growing frequency of health-care-associated infections and increasing incidence of antimicrobial resista...
Transmitted drug resistances (TDRs) and HIV-1 diversity could affect treatment efficacy and clinical outcomes. Here we describe the circulating viral subtypes and estimate the prevalence of resistance...
The epidemiological evidence is inconsistent about whether HIV-positive injection drug users (IDUs) are at higher risk of developing antiretroviral resistance than any other HIV-positive populations. ...
A cross-sectional study will be conducted in selected 2 sentinel sites for assessment of drug resistance falciparum and vivax among asymptomatic infection in migrant workers in Myanmar.
The investigators aim to assess type and frequency of HIV drug resistance in adults presenting to the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) in Kampala, Uganda, and compare this data to patie...
The primary objectives of this study are to evaluate the antiretroviral activity and to evaluate the safety and tolerability of open-label MK-1439A consisting of a single fixed-dose combin...
A point-of-care laboratory (POC) was set at North Hospital, Marseille, France for the diagnosis in less than two hours of sexually transmitted infections caused by known pathogens, close t...
The investigators aim is to determine the incidence of cytomegalovirus resistance to antivirals in a cohort study. The patients are included at their first CMV active infection and are fol...
Determination, by measurement or comparison with a standard, of the correct value of each scale reading on a meter or other measuring instrument; or determination of the settings of a control device that correspond to particular values of voltage, current, frequency or other output.
Diminished or failed response of an organism, disease or tissue to the intended effectiveness of a chemical or drug. It should be differentiated from DRUG TOLERANCE which is the progressive diminution of the susceptibility of a human or animal to the effects of a drug, as a result of continued administration.
Simultaneous resistance to several structurally and functionally distinct drugs.
Containers, packaging, and packaging materials for drugs and biological products. These include those in ampule, capsule, tablet, solution or other forms. Packaging includes immediate-containers, secondary-containers, and cartons. In the United States, such packaging is controlled under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act which also stipulates requirements for tamper-resistance and child-resistance. Similar laws govern use elsewhere. (From Code of Federal Regulations, 21 CFR 1 Section 210, 1993) DRUG LABELING is also available.
A sequence-related subfamily of ATP-BINDING CASSETTE TRANSPORTERS that actively transport organic substrates. Although considered organic anion transporters, a subset of proteins in this family have also been shown to convey drug resistance to neutral organic drugs. Their cellular function may have clinical significance for CHEMOTHERAPY in that they transport a variety of ANTINEOPLASTIC AGENTS. Overexpression of proteins in this class by NEOPLASMS is considered a possible mechanism in the development of multidrug resistance (DRUG RESISTANCE, MULTIPLE). Although similar in function to P-GLYCOPROTEINS, the proteins in this class share little sequence homology to the p-glycoprotein family of proteins.

Pediatrics is the general medicine of childhood. Because of the developmental processes (psychological and physical) of childhood, the involvement of parents, and the social management of conditions at home and at school, pediatrics is a specialty. With ...
