Epilepsy is one of the most common diseases of the nervous system. Approximately one-third of epilepsy cases are drug-resistant, among which generalized-onset seizures are very common. The present study aimed to analyze abnormalities of the thalamocortical fiber pathways in each hemisphere of the brains of patients with drug-resistant generalized epilepsy.

Epilepsy surgery is an alternative to continued antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) in children with drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE).
How does the human brain's structural scaffold give rise to its intricate functional dynamics? This is a central question in translational neuroscience that is particularly relevant to epilepsy, a dis...
We compared resting-state functional connectivity (RSFC) among limbic and temporal lobe regions between patients with medial temporal lobe epilepsy (mTLE) and healthy control subjects to identify imag...
Multimodal quantitative magnetic resonance imaging analysis with individualized postprocessing in patients with drug-resistant focal epilepsy and conventional visual inspection negative for epileptogenic lesions.
Approximately one-third of candidates for epilepsy surgery have no visible abnormalities on conventional magnetic resonance imaging. This is extremely discouraging, as these patients have a less favor...
Up to 40% of patients with epilepsy become drug resistant (DRE). Genetic factors are likely to play a role. While efforts have focused on the transporter and target hypotheses, neither fully explains ...
To compare the efficacy of two less restrictive dietary therapies - LGIT and MAD, used for treatment of drug resistant epilepsy in children
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the long-term safety and tolerability of Padsevonil administered at individualized doses as adjunctive treatment for subjects with drug-resistant ep...
This study is to identify the clinical criteria of drug resistant epilepsy and to explore whether SCN1A c.3184 A/G (rs2298771) and ccl2(rs1024611) polymorphisms could serve as genetic base...
The purpose of study EP0073 is to assess the long-term safety, tolerability, and efficacy during 5 years of treatment with the drug UCB0942 in patients with highly drug-resistant focal epi...
The aim of the proposed pilot study is to investigate patient tolerability and efficacy of moderate term, repeated exposure of Pulsed Low-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (PLIFUS) in patients ...
Epileptic condition in which adequate trials of two tolerated and appropriately chosen and used ANTIEPILEPTIC DRUGS schedules to achieve sustained seizure freedom failed.
A disorder characterized by the onset of myoclonus in adolescence, a marked increase in the incidence of absence seizures (see EPILEPSY, ABSENCE), and generalized major motor seizures (see EPILEPSY, TONIC-CLONIC). The myoclonic episodes tend to occur shortly after awakening. Seizures tend to be aggravated by sleep deprivation and alcohol consumption. Hereditary and sporadic forms have been identified. Congenital structural deformities, malformations, or other abnormalities of the cranium and facial bones.
Congenital structural abnormalities of the mouth and jaws, including the dentition.

Epilepsy is defined as a disorder of brain function characterized by recurrent seizures that have a sudden onset. (Oxford Medical Dictionary). A seizure is caused by a sudden burst of excess electrical activity in the brain, causing a tempora...
