During tumor progression, circulating monocytes and macrophages are actively recruited into tumors where they alter the tumor microenvironment to accelerate tumor progression. In response to multiple microenvironmental signals from the tumor and stromal cells, macrophages change their functional phenotypes. Based on their function, macrophages are commonly classified into both, classical M1 and alternative M2 macrophages. M2-like tumor-associated macrophages promote breast tumor growth and survival, and may migrate into the peripheral blood. However, the level of circulating M2/M1-like monocyte ratio in the peripheral blood of breast cancer patients has not been yet clarified.

The prognostic benefits of primary tumor resection in patients with unresectable distant metastatic colorectal cancer remain unclear. A high pre-treatment lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR) was previo...
In humans and mice, the detailed phenotypic and functional characterization of peripheral blood monocytes allows for identification of three monocyte subsets. There are also evidences of monocyte phen...
Morphological differentiation among different blast cell lineages is a difficult task and there is a lack of automated analysers able to recognise these abnormal cells. This study aims to develop a ma...
This study aimed to identify the serum neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte/lymphocyte ratio (MLR), platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and C-reactive protein (CRP)/albumin (CAR) ratios among pati...
Innate immune cell defects contribute to severe autoimmunity and the pathogenesis of inflammatory disease. Monocyte-derived macrophages typically retain disease related signatures and represent an exc...
High levels of HIV infection within blood monocyte/macrophages (a type of white cells in the bloodstream) increases risk of dementia in HIV-infected individuals. Maraviroc (Selzentry) is ...
The aim of the study was to investigate whether daily 5 mg tadalafil over eight weeks affects to Lymphocyte/Monocyte ratio (LMR) and Monocyte/High-Density Lipoprotein ratio (MHR) in patien...
In this prospective study, the main goal is to evaluate the strength of Monomark -a monocyte-based transcriptomic test combined to a mathematical model- in patients with a positive FIT tes...
The purpose of this study is to determine whether the CD16- monocyte/CD16+ monocyte ratio could help predict the prognosis of DLBCL and PTCL.
Firstly, this study aims to understand how cardiac fibrosis mediated by inflammatory microvascular disease evolves during advanced chronic kidney disease and end stage renal failure and im...
Conditions in which the abnormalities in the peripheral blood or bone marrow represent the early manifestations of acute leukemia, but in which the changes are not of sufficient magnitude or specificity to permit a diagnosis of acute leukemia by the usual clinical criteria.
Ratio of T-LYMPHOCYTES that express the CD4 ANTIGEN to those that express the CD8 ANTIGEN. This value is commonly assessed in the diagnosis and staging of diseases affecting the IMMUNE SYSTEM including HIV INFECTIONS.
The ratio of two odds. The exposure-odds ratio for case control data is the ratio of the odds in favor of exposure among cases to the odds in favor of exposure among noncases. The disease-odds ratio for a cohort or cross section is the ratio of the odds in favor of disease among the exposed to the odds in favor of disease among the unexposed. The prevalence-odds ratio refers to an odds ratio derived cross-sectionally from studies of prevalent cases.
The ratio of alveolar ventilation to simultaneous alveolar capillary blood flow in any part of the lung. (Stedman, 25th ed)
Transplantation of stem cells collected from the peripheral blood. It is a less invasive alternative to direct marrow harvesting of hematopoietic stem cells. Enrichment of stem cells in peripheral blood can be achieved by inducing mobilization of stem cells from the BONE MARROW.
