Pain following total hip arthroplasty is significant, and effective analgesia is associated with an improvement in functional outcomes. Dexamethasone may facilitate the action of local anesthesia, but...
Local infiltration analgesia (LIA) is commonly used in anterior total hip arthroplasty (THA) surgery; however, evidence for its efficacy is lacking. We hypothesized that LIA with 0.2% ropivacaine when...
Local infiltration analgesia (LIA) is widely used in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty and often contains epinephrine for a prolonged analgesic effect and to reduce systemic absorption of th...
Preemptive analgesia encompasses different perioperative interventions that have the final aim of decreasing postoperative pain and improving recovery. Recently, peripheral analgesic effects of oxytoc...
The study will compare the analgesic efficacy of transversus abdominis plane block and wound infiltration in parturients undergoing cesarean delivery under spinal anesthesia.
Total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) is considered to be a major surgical procedure resulting in severe postoperative pain, especially in the first 48 hours after surgery. The use of intersca...
Since the first spinal fusion by Hibbs 1911, yet anesthesia for correction of scoliosis is challenging due to frequently associated co-morbidities, the extensive nature of surgery and liab...
This study is aimed at evaluating single short spinal technique as a form of labour analgesia in a setting where more expensive and labor intensive techniques are not feasible. The study wi...
Cesarean delivery is one of the most common surgical procedures, performed at an increasingly high rate. It is associated with intense postoperative pain that may hamper the rehabilitation...
A short-acting opioid anesthetic and analgesic derivative of FENTANYL. It produces an early peak analgesic effect and fast recovery of consciousness. Alfentanil is effective as an anesthetic during surgery, for supplementation of analgesia during surgical procedures, and as an analgesic for critically ill patients.
Injection of ANALGESICS; LOCAL ANESTHETICS; or NARCOTICS into the PLEURAL CAVITY between the two pleural membranes.
Analgesia produced by the insertion of ACUPUNCTURE needles at certain ACUPUNCTURE POINTS on the body. This activates small myelinated nerve fibers in the muscle which transmit impulses to the spinal cord and then activate three centers - the spinal cord, midbrain and pituitary/hypothalamus - to produce analgesia.
A local anesthetic that is similar pharmacologically to LIDOCAINE. Currently, it is used most often for infiltration anesthesia in dentistry. (From AMA Drug Evaluations Annual, 1992, p165)
A pathologic change in leukemia in which leukemic cells permeate various organs at any stage of the disease. All types of leukemia show various degrees of infiltration, depending upon the type of leukemia. The degree of infiltration may vary from site to site. The liver and spleen are common sites of infiltration, the greatest appearing in myelocytic leukemia, but infiltration is seen also in the granulocytic and lymphocytic types. The kidney is also a common site and of the gastrointestinal system, the stomach and ileum are commonly involved. In lymphocytic leukemia the skin is often infiltrated. The central nervous system too is a common site.
A joint is where two or more bones come together, like the knee, hip, elbow, or shoulder. Joints can be damaged by many types of injuries or diseases, including Arthritis - inflammation of a joint causes pain, stiffness, and swelling with ...
