Patients with bicuspid aortic valves (BAV) are heterogeneous with regard to patterns of root remodeling and valvular dysfunction. Two-dimensional echocardiography is the standard surveillance modality for patients with aortic valve dysfunction. However, ancillary computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging is often necessary to characterize associated patterns of aortic root pathology. Conversely, the pairing of three-dimensional (3D) echocardiography with novel quantitative modeling techniques allows for a single modality description of the entire root complex. We sought to determine 3D aortic valve and root geometry with this quantitative approach.

To perform clinical and echocardiographic follow-up beyond 1 year in consecutive patients with severe bicuspid aortic stenosis (AS) undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) with a cu...
The bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) frequently requires surgical intervention for aortic regurgitation (AR) and aneurysm. Valve-preserving surgery for BAV has evolved over the last 25 years.
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) indications are expanding, leading to an increasing number of patients with bicuspid aortic stenosis undergoing TAVR. Pivotal randomized trials conducted ...
Ascending aortic aneurysms constitute an important hazard for individuals with a bicuspid aortic valve (BAV). However, the processes that degrade the aortic wall in BAV disease remain poorly understoo...
Long-term prognosis of patients with aortic regurgitation (AR) and reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) who undergo aortic valve surgery (AVS) is unknown. Due to the congenital origin,...
The HAART 200 "Aortic Annuloplasty during Bicuspid Aortic Valve Reconstruction" Trial is a prospective, non-randomized, multi-center trial to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the H...
Bicuspid Aortic Valve (BAV) is the most common congenital heart disease affecting 1-2% of the population. The aortic dilation and aortic valve degeneration are common complications in pati...
This study sought to evaluate changes in ascending aorta size after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in patients with bicuspid aortic valve (BiAV) compared with patients with ...
The objective of this study is to evaluate the procedural and clinical outcomes of patients with bicuspid aortic valve stenosis undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement.
Prospective non interventional, observational registry of 150 patients undergoing TAVI with Evolut platform for bicuspid aortic stenosis.
The downward displacement of the cuspal or pointed end of the trileaflet AORTIC VALVE causing misalignment of the cusps. Severe valve distortion can cause leakage and allow the backflow of blood from the ASCENDING AORTA back into the LEFT VENTRICLE, leading to aortic regurgitation.
Surgical treatment for severe AORTIC VALVE STENOSIS. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is used as an alternative option in patients who are deemed at high risk or inoperable for traditional open-heart surgery.
Pathological condition characterized by the backflow of blood from the ASCENDING AORTA back into the LEFT VENTRICLE, leading to regurgitation. It is caused by diseases of the AORTIC VALVE or its surrounding tissue (aortic root).
A type of constriction that is caused by the presence of a fibrous ring (discrete type) below the AORTIC VALVE, anywhere between the aortic valve and the MITRAL VALVE. It is characterized by restricted outflow from the LEFT VENTRICLE into the AORTA.
A pathological constriction that can occur above (supravalvular stenosis), below (subvalvular stenosis), or at the AORTIC VALVE. It is characterized by restricted outflow from the LEFT VENTRICLE into the AORTA.
