Summary of "Stable Salts of Heteroleptic Iron Carbonyl/Nitrosyl Cations - A New Class of Iron Carbonyl Complexes."

The oxidation of Fe(CO) 5 with the [NO] + salt of the weakly coordinating perfluoroalkoxyaluminate anion [F-{Al(OR F ) 3 } 2 ] - (R F = C(CF 3 ) 3 ) leads to stable salts of the 18 valence electron (VE) species [Fe(CO) 4 (NO)] + and [Fe(CO)(NO) 3 ] + with the Enemark-Feltham numbers of {FeNO} 8 and {FeNO} 10 . This finally concludes the triad of heteroleptic iron carbonyl/nitrosyl complexes, since the first discovery of the anionic ([Fe(CO) 3 (NO)] - ) and neutral ([Fe(CO) 2 (NO) 2 ]) species over 80 years ago. Both complexes were fully characterized (IR, Raman, NMR, UV/Vis, scXRD, pXRD) and are stable at room temperature under inert conditions over months and may serve as useful starting materials for further investigations.

Infrared Spectroelectrochemistry of Iron-Nitrosyl Triarylcorroles. Implications for Ligand Noninnocence.

Recent DFT calculations have suggested that iron nitrosyl triarylcorrole complexes have substantial {FeNO}-corrole character. With this formulation, reduction of Fe(C)(NO) complexes, where C = triaryl...

Quaternary Ammonium Trifluoromethoxide Salts as Stable Sources of Nucleophilic OCF.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Complex of iron atoms chelated with carbonyl ions.

Stable iron atoms that have the same atomic number as the element iron, but differ in atomic weight. Fe-54, 57, and 58 are stable iron isotopes.

Iron or iron compounds used in foods or as food. Dietary iron is important in oxygen transport and the synthesis of the iron-porphyrin proteins hemoglobin, myoglobin, cytochromes, and cytochrome oxidase. Insufficient amounts of dietary iron can lead to iron-deficiency anemia.

A multifunctional iron-sulfur protein that is both an iron regulatory protein and cytoplasmic form of aconitate hydratase. It binds to iron regulatory elements found on mRNAs involved in iron metabolism and regulates their translation. Its rate of degradation is increased in the presence of IRON.

Carbonic acid (H2C03). The hypothetical acid of carbon dioxide and water. It exists only in the form of its salts (carbonates), acid salts (hydrogen carbonates), amines (carbamic acid), and acid chlorides (carbonyl chloride). (From Grant & Hackh's Chemical Dictionary, 5th ed)
