Summary of "Prognostication of anaplastic astrocytoma patients: application of contrast leakage information of dynamic susceptibility contrast-enhanced MRI and dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI."

To examine the applicability of contrast leakage information from dynamic susceptibility contrast-enhanced (DSC) MRI and dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) MRI to determine which one is the most valuable surrogate imaging biomarker for predicting disease progression in anaplastic astrocytoma (AA) patients.

From astrocytoma to glioblastoma: a clonal evolution study.

Astrocytomas often recur after surgical resection, but the underlying mechanism remains enigmatic. Elucidation of clonal evolution in primary and relapse tumors may provide important information on tu...

Nocardia farcinica meningitis in a patient with high-grade astrocytoma.

We describe a case of 91-year-old male with astrocytoma who developed meningitis caused by Nocardia farcinica. He had a past medical history of anaplastic astrocytoma grade III. Endocranial computed t...

Tumors diagnosed as cerebellar glioblastoma comprise distinct molecular entities.

In this multi-institutional study we compiled a retrospective cohort of 86 posterior fossa tumors having received the diagnosis of cerebellar glioblastoma (cGBM). All tumors were reviewed histological...

Can Biomarkers Provide Right Ventricular-Specific Prognostication in the Perioperative Setting?

Since the introduction of biomarkers in the late 1980's, considerable research has been dedicated to their validation and application. As a result, many biomarkers are now commonly used in clinical pr...

Spinal cord anaplastic astrocytoma with BRAF V600E mutation: A case report and review of literature.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Neoplasms of the brain and spinal cord derived from glial cells which vary from histologically benign forms to highly anaplastic and malignant tumors. Fibrillary astrocytomas are the most common type and may be classified in order of increasing malignancy (grades I through IV). In the first two decades of life, astrocytomas tend to originate in the cerebellar hemispheres; in adults, they most frequently arise in the cerebrum and frequently undergo malignant transformation. A method of delineating blood vessels by subtracting a tissue background image from an image of tissue plus intravascular contrast material that attenuates the X-ray photons. The background image is determined from a digitized image taken a few moments before injection of the contrast material. The resulting angiogram is a high-contrast image of the vessel. This subtraction technique allows extraction of a high-intensity signal from the superimposed background information. The image is thus the result of the differential absorption of X-rays by different tissues.
