Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction: the dark side of an old disease.

Heart failure is a global public health problem, with more than 37 million patients living with heart failure around the world. Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction is an increasingly common...

Comparison of BNP and NT-proBNP in Patients With Heart Failure and Reduced Ejection Fraction.

Both BNP (B-type natriuretic peptide) and NT-proBNP (N-terminal pro B-type natriuretic peptide) are widely used to aid diagnosis, assess the effect of therapy, and predict outcomes in heart failure an...

Association Between Sacubitril/Valsartan Initiation and Health Status Outcomes in Heart Failure With Reduced Ejection Fraction.

This study sought to describe the short-term health status benefits of angiotensin-neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI) therapy in patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).

Prevalence of peripheral arterial disease in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.

To describe the prevalence of the reduced ankle-brachial index (ABI) in patients with heart failure (HF) with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) attended at a HF clinic in the metropolitan region of ...

Perturbations of pulsatile hemodynamics and clinical outcomes in patients with acute heart failure and reduced, mid-range or preserved ejection fraction.

Heart failure with mid-range ejection fraction (HFmrEF) has been proposed as a new phenotype of heart failure. We therefore investigated the pulsatile hemodynamic characteristics and outcomes in patie...

Non Invasive Assessment of Heart Failure

1. To Identify the role of aldosterone antagonist in patients of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. 2. Portray the health profile of heart failure patients admitted in...

Study of Efficacy and Safety of LCZ696 in Japanese Patients With Chronic Heart Failure and Reduced Ejection Fraction

The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of LCZ696 at a target dose of 200 mg b.i.d. compared to enalapril 10 mg b.i.d., in addition to the background heart failure (HF) treatment...

Empagliflozin in Heart Failure Patients With Reduced Ejection Fraction

To assess the effect of Empagliflozin on cardiac biomarkers, cardiac function at rest and during stress, cardiac hemodynamics, renal function, metabolism, daily activity level and health-r...

A Novel Automated & Comprehensive Approach for Ventricular Function Assessment in Heart Failure

Heart failure (HF) is a major health care burden. It can occur with either normal or reduced LV ejection fraction (EF), depending on different degrees of ventricular remodelling. We recent...

DETERMINE-reduced - Dapagliflozin Effect on Exercise Capacity Using a 6-minute Walk Test in Patients With Heart Failure With Reduced Ejection Fraction

International, Multicentre, Parallel-group, Randomised, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled, Phase III Study Evaluating the effect of Dapagliflozin on Exercise Capacity in Heart Failure Patie...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A condition in which the RIGHT VENTRICLE of the heart was functionally impaired. This condition usually leads to HEART FAILURE or MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION, and other cardiovascular complications. Diagnosis is made by measuring the diminished ejection fraction and a depressed level of motility of the right ventricular wall.

A condition in which the LEFT VENTRICLE of the heart was functionally impaired. This condition usually leads to HEART FAILURE; MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION; and other cardiovascular complications. Diagnosis is made by measuring the diminished ejection fraction and a depressed level of motility of the left ventricular wall.

A heterogeneous condition in which the heart is unable to pump out sufficient blood to meet the metabolic need of the body. Heart failure can be caused by structural defects, functional abnormalities (VENTRICULAR DYSFUNCTION), or a sudden overload beyond its capacity. Chronic heart failure is more common than acute heart failure which results from sudden insult to cardiac function, such as MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION.

Enlargement of the HEART, usually indicated by a cardiothoracic ratio above 0.50. Heart enlargement may involve the right, the left, or both HEART VENTRICLES or HEART ATRIA. Cardiomegaly is a nonspecific symptom seen in patients with chronic systolic heart failure (HEART FAILURE) or several forms of CARDIOMYOPATHIES.

Heart failure caused by abnormal myocardial relaxation during DIASTOLE leading to defective cardiac filling.
