Sex Associated Differences in Cardiac Reverse Remodeling in Patients Supported by Contemporary Left Ventricular Assist Devices.

Summary of "Sex Associated Differences in Cardiac Reverse Remodeling in Patients Supported by Contemporary Left Ventricular Assist Devices."

Women differ from men in their left ventricular (LV) structure, function, and remodeling with age and diseases. The LV assist device (LVAD) unloads the LV and reversely remodels the heart. We sought to define the effects of sex on longitudinal reverse remodeling after LVAD implantation.

Cardiovascular Comorbidities Are the Main Predictors of Cardiac Reverse Remodeling following Kidney Transplantation.

End-stage renal disease is associated with cardiac remodeling, which is partly reversible after kidney transplantation (KT). We aimed to determine the association of cardiovascular comorbidities or ki...

Does left ventricular reverse remodeling influence long-term outcomes in patients with Chagas cardiomyopathy?

The impact of left ventricular reverse remodeling (LVRR) on the prognosis of Chagas cardiomyopathy is unknown. The aim of this study was to determine whether the presence of LVRR can predict mortality...

Sex-related differences in contemporary biomarkers for heart failure: a review.

The use of circulating biomarkers for heart failure (HF) is engrained in contemporary cardiovascular practice and provides objective information about various pathophysiological pathways associated wi...

Relations between circulating and myocardial fibrosis-linked microRNAs with left ventricular reverse remodeling in dilated cardiomyopathy.

Left ventricular reverse remodeling (LVRR) determines clinical status and outcomes in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). The extent of myocardial fibrosis is connected to the systolic function of the heart...

Mitral Valve Prolapse Patients with Less than Moderate Mitral Regurgitation Exhibit Early Cardiac Chamber Remodeling.

Mild physiologic mitral regurgitation (MR) is common in normal individuals. Patients with primary MR due to mitral valve prolapse (MVP) may also exhibit less than moderate MR. We sought to determine w...

Effect of MitraClip on Acute and Chronic Reverse Cardiac Remodeling Assessed by CMR: The MITRA-REVERSE Study

The purpose of this pilot study is to use cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) and echocardiography to define the anatomic and functional remodeling that results from MitraClip implantation. A...

Paroxetine-mediated GRK2 Inhibition to Reduce Cardiac Remodeling After Acute Myocardial Infarction

This study evaluates the off-target effect of paroxetine to reverse cardiac remodeling and improve left ventricular ejection fraction in patients after acute myocardial infarction. Half of...

Intracardiac Flow Remodeling in Athletes

The uncertainty concerning the onset and the extent of cardiac remodeling in response to intensive training hinders medical evaluation by physician. A better knowledge of the physiology of...

Imaging-based Diagnosis of Diffuse Coronary Artery Disease and Quantification of Cardiac Remodeling in Obesity

The study aims to: 1. Characterize coronary artery disease (CAD) using CT Angiography (CTA) and scaling power law in 100 patients with obesity 2. Characterize cardiac remo...

Effect of Intravenous FerRic carbOxymaltose oN Reverse Remodeling Following Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy

To assess impact on left ventricular reverse remodeling defined as a change in left ventricular ejection fraction in heart failure patients with reduced ejection fraction (and previous imp...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A synthetic nondepolarizing blocking drug. The actions of gallamine triethiodide are similar to those of TUBOCURARINE, but this agent blocks the cardiac vagus and may cause sinus tachycardia and, occasionally, hypertension and increased cardiac output. It should be used cautiously in patients at risk from increased heart rate but may be preferred for patients with bradycardia. (From AMA Drug Evaluations Annual, 1992, p198)

Heart enlargement and other remodeling in cardiac morphology and electrical circutry found in individuals who participate in intense repeated exercises.

Autosomal dominant syndrome characterized by cardiac and cutaneous MYXOMAS; LENTIGINOSIS (spotty pigmentation of the skin), and endocrinopathy and its associated endocrine tumors. The cardiac myxomas may lead to SUDDEN CARDIAC DEATH and other complications in Carney complex patients. The gene coding for the PRKAR1A protein is one of the causative genetic loci (type 1). A second locus is at chromosome 2p16 (type 2).

Restoration of functions to the maximum degree possible in a person or persons suffering from a CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE. It also includes cardiac conditioning and SECONDARY PREVENTION in patients with elevated cardiovascular risk profile.

Differences of opinion or disagreements that may arise, for example, between health professionals and patients or their families, or against a political regime.
