Summary of "Immediate unprepared polyethylene glycol-flush colonoscopy in elderly patients with severe lower gastrointestinal bleeding."

Colon preparation is vital yet more difficult in elderly patients with severe lower gastrointestinal bleeding (LGIB). The aim of this study is to show the efficacy, safety and outcomes of unprepared polyethylene glycol (PEG)-flush retrograde colon cleansing in the diagnosis and treatment of elderly home care patients with LGIB.

Efficacy of mosapride citrate with a split dose of polyethylene glycol plus ascorbic acid for bowel preparation in elderly patients: A randomized controlled trial.

Old age is a risk factor of suboptimal bowel preparation. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of mosapride citrate with a split dose of polyethylene glycol (PEG) plus ascorbic acid for bowel pre...

Combination of bisacodyl suppository and 1L polyethylene glycol plus ascorbic acid (PEG-Asc) is a non-inferior and comfortable regimen compared to 2L PEG-Asc.

Appropriate bowel cleansing before colonoscopy is an important factor in increasing the detection rate of lesions. Low-volume polyethylene glycol (PEG) plus ascorbic acid (PEG-Asc) reduces the dosage ...

Effectiveness and tolerability of low volume bowel cleansing polyethylene glycol solution for colonoscopy.

A successful colonoscopy depends, among other factors, on a proper colon cleansing. This variable also affects the acceptance of the patient to carry out the study.

Patients over Age 75 Are at Increased Risk of Emergency Department Visit and Hospitalization Following Colonoscopy.

The age to stop screening or surveillance colonoscopy is not well established, and unplanned hospital use after colonoscopy in the elderly is not well understood.

Polyethylene Glycol Versus Low Volume Solutions Prior to Colonoscopy

Study evaluates the efficacy and tolerability of low volume preparations compared with conventional 4L polyethylene glycol prior to colonoscopy

Comparison of the Effectiveness of Bowel Preparations Before Colonoscopy

Polyethylene glycol is the gold standard of bowel preparation for colonoscopy. The most important disadvantage is high volume of this preparation. Sulphate based solution (SBS), low volume...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A network of cross-linked hydrophilic macromolecules used in biomedical applications fabricated by photopolymerization of polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate. Its general formulae is C3H5C(O)(OCH2CH2)nOC(O)C3H5 where n denotes a number of average polyglycol (OCH2CH2) repeats.

Ophthalmic solutions that include LUBRICANTS and WETTING AGENTS such as POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL; HYPROMELLOSE; GLYCEROL; PROPYLENE GLYCOL. They are used to treat conditions caused by deficient tear production such as DRY EYE SYNDROME.

A vinyl polymer made from ethylene. It can be branched or linear. Branched or low-density polyethylene is tough and pliable but not to the same degree as linear polyethylene. Linear or high-density polyethylene has a greater hardness and tensile strength. Polyethylene is used in a variety of products, including implants and prostheses.

Non-ionic surfactant of the polyethylene glycol family. It is used as a solubilizer and emulsifying agent in foods, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals, often as an ointment base, and also as a research tool.

A copolymer of polyethylene and polypropylene ether glycol. It is a non-ionic polyol surface-active agent used medically as a fecal softener and in cattle for prevention of bloat.
