Friction in the Path to Use of Biosimilar Drugs.

Evaluating an abbreviated three-factor version of the Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire in three samples.

A brief, three-factor structure for the Eating Disorder Examination-Questionnaire (EDE-Q) has been identified that has stronger psychometric properties than the original four-factor EDE-Q structure. However, there is a need for independent replication of the brief version in different samples, and examination of how comparable the brief version is in women and men of diverse ages. This study compared factor structure fit and other psychometric properties between the original and brief versions in three inde...

Use of Biosimilars in Paediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease: An Updated Position Statement of the Paediatric IBD Porto Group of ESPGHAN.

Biologic therapies have changed the outcome of both adult and paediatric patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). In September 2013, the first biosimilar of infliximab was introduced into the pharmaceutical market. In 2015, a first position paper on the use of biosimilars in paediatric IBD was published by the ESPGHAN IBD Porto group. Since then, more data have accumulated for both adults and children demonstrating biosimilars are an effective and safe alternative to the originator. In this updated p...

An evaluation roadmap for critical quality attributes from tier 1 in analytical similarity assessment.

Analytical similarity assessment of critical quality attributes (CQAs) serves as a foundation for the development of biosimilar products and facilitates an abbreviated subsequent clinical evaluation. In this study, we establish a statistical evaluation roadmap with statistical approaches for some selected CQAs from Tier 1, because they are most relevant to clinical outcomes and require the most rigorous statistical methods. In the roadmap, we incorporate 3 methods-ranking and tier assignment of quality attr...

Non-pharmacological Effects in Switching Medication: The Nocebo Effect in Switching from Originator to Biosimilar Agent.

The nocebo effect is defined as the incitement or the worsening of symptoms induced by any negative attitude from non-pharmacological therapeutic intervention, sham, or active therapies. When a patient anticipates a negative effect associated with an intervention, medication or change in medication, they may then experience either an increase in this effect or experience it de novo.
