ALX148 blocks CD47 and enhances innate and adaptive antitumor immunity with a favorable safety profile.

CD47 is a widely expressed cell surface protein that functions as an immune checkpoint in cancer. When expressed by tumor cells, CD47 can bind SIRPα on myeloid cells, leading to suppression of tumor cell phagocytosis and other innate immune functions. CD47-SIRPα signaling has also been implicated in the suppression of adaptive antitumor responses, but the relevant cellular functions have yet to be elucidated. Therapeutic blockade of the CD47 pathway may stimulate antitumor immunity and improve cancer ther...

The Vulnerable Phase of Heart Failure.

Simultaneous measurement of phase transmission and birefringence of an object under test.

This paper presents a novel interferometric method for the simultaneous spatially resolved analysis of an object under test regarding the phase transmission function and the magnitude and orientation of the (uniaxial) birefringence. The measurement strategy is based on variations of the phase and polarization and processing the interference patterns so obtained. With this method, which is very similar to the classical phase-shifting interferometry, a complete analysis of birefringent properties of the objec...

Fast correction approach for wavefront sensorless adaptive optics based on a linear phase diversity technique.

Wavefront sensorless (WFSless) adaptive optics (AO) systems have been widely studied in recent years. To reach optimum results, such systems require an efficient correction method. This paper presents a fast wavefront correction approach for a WFSless AO system mainly based on the linear phase diversity (PD) technique. The fast closed-loop control algorithm is set up based on the linear relationship between the drive voltage of the deformable mirror (DM) and the far-field images of the system, which is obta...

Absolute sensitivity of phase measurement in an SU(1,1) type interferometer.

Absolute sensitivity is measured for the phase measurement in an SU(1,1) type interferometer, and the results are compared to that of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer operated under the condition of the same intra-interferometer intensity. The interferometer is phase locked to a point with the largest quantum noise cancellation, and a simulated phase modulation is added in one arm of the SU(1,1) interferometer. Both the signal and noise level are estimated at the same frequency range, and we obtained 3 dB imp...

The correlations are shown to be intensity dependent.

Demodulation of moire fringes in digital holographic interferometry using an extended Kalman filter.

This paper presents a method for extracting multiple phases from a single moire fringe pattern in digital holographic interferometry. The method relies on component separation using singular value decomposition and an extended Kalman filter for demodulating the moire fringes. The Kalman filter is applied by modeling the interference field locally as a multi-component polynomial phase signal and extracting the associated multiple polynomial coefficients using the state space approach. In addition to phase, t...

Optimized random phase only holograms.

We propose a simple and efficient technique capable of generating Fourier phase only holograms with a reconstruction quality similar to the results obtained with the Gerchberg-Saxton (G-S) algorithm. Our proposal is to use the traditional G-S algorithm to optimize a random phase pattern for the resolution, pixel size, and target size of the general optical system without any specific amplitude data. This produces an optimized random phase (ORAP), which is used for fast generation of phase only holograms of ...
