Achieving the maximum by doing the minimum in the treatment of pilonidal sinus : where does evidence point?

The article by Pappas et al highlighted the results of the laser treatment of Pilonidal disease (PND)[1]. Although this treatment seems impressive t there are a few points which merit discussion. The laser treatment had a cure rate of 90% after first surgery[1]. This suggests that any type of excision (simple or wide local excision) is not a mandatory requirement for the cure of PND[1].
