Belatacept (Nulojix; Bristol-Myers Squibb, New York, NY) is a biological immunosuppressive drug used for the prophylaxis of acute rejection after renal transplantation. Few studies have described belatacept pharmacokinetics, and the effect of therapeutic drug monitoring has not been investigated. We have developed a drug-capture assay (using drug target) to measure belatacept in serum and applied this assay in a pharmacokinetic study in renal transplant recipients.
The unprecedented success of immuno-oncology (I-O) agents targeting the cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 and programmed death-1/programmed death-ligand 1 pathways has stimulated the rapid development of other I-O agents against novel immune targets. Bristol-Myers Squibb has designed a novel phase II platform trial, the Fast Real-time Assessment of Combination Therapies in Immuno-ONcology (FRACTION) Program, to efficiently identify promising combinations for patients with specific malignancies. ...
As part of its single technology appraisal (STA) process, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) invited the manufacturer (Bristol-Myers Squibb) of nivolumab (Opdivo) to submit evidence of its clinical and cost effectiveness for metastatic or unresectable urothelial cancer. Kleijnen Systematic Reviews Ltd, in collaboration with Maastricht University Medical Centre+, was commissioned to act as the independent Evidence Review Group (ERG), which produced a detailed review of the evidence ...
The Bristol Impact of Hypermobility (BIoH) questionnaire is a condition-specific patient-reported outcome measure developed for adults with Joint Hypermobility Syndrome (JHS). It has previously demonstrated strong concurrent validity with the Short-Form 36 health questionnaire and excellent test-retest reliability.
The world-class Bristol Bay (Alaska) salmon fishery and vast deposits of copper and other metals in the watershed warrant further investigation into the potential toxicity of copper to salmonids under the low water-hardness conditions that occur in the watershed. Therefore, we investigated the acute toxicity of copper to rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and fathead minnows (Pimephales promelas) in low hardness (∼30 mg/L as CaCO ) water formulated in the laboratory and collected from the Bristol Bay w...
The structures and reactivities of pseudoephedrine-derived dianionic Myers enolates are examined. A combination of NMR and IR spectroscopic, crystallographic, and computational data reveal that the homoaggregated dianions form octalithiated tetramers displaying S-symmetric LiO cores and overall C symmetry. Computational and isotopic labeling studies reveal strong N-Li contacts in the carboxamide enolate moiety. The method of continuous variations proves deceptive, as octalithiated tetrameric homoaggregates ...
The objectives of this study were to evaluate the association between a student's Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) preference pairs and resulting types and his or her multiple-mini interview (MMI) scores upon admission, and to determine the proportions of types among veterinary classes over five years.
Payments from pharmaceutical and device manufacturers to physicians may influence the advice physicians give patients and peers.

Denosumab has been successfully used for the postmenopausal osteoporosis treatment. This research is focused on the computational analysis of the effect of denosumab on bone remodeling.
We applied a previously established and validated numerical model to a novel short-stemmed implant for a 'pre-launch' investigation.
The aims of this study were to clarify the changes of patellar tendon length during isometric knee joint extension and the double leg squat position using ultrasonography.
Urinary retention in women is poorly understood, compared to the equivalent condition in men, and was the subject of a dedicated session organized at the International Consultation on Incontinence Research Society (ICI-RS) in Bristol, United Kingdom, 2017.
In human behaviour, emergence of movement patterns is shaped by different, interacting constraints and consequently, individuals with motor disorders usually display distinctive lower limb coordination modes.
Obesity alters whole body kinematics during activities of daily living such as sit-to-stand (STS), but the relative contributions of excess body mass and decreased relative strength are unknown.
HLA-B*5701 screening identifies patients at increased risk for abacavir (ABC) hypersensitivity reaction (HSR). Screening was adopted in GlaxoSmithKline and ViiV Healthcare clinical trials in 2007 and HIV treatment guidelines in 2008. Company meta-analyses of trials pre-HLA-B*5701 screening reported HSR rates of 4% to 8%. We analyzed the effectiveness of HLA-B*5701 screening on reducing HSR rates using clinical trial, observational (OPERA) cohort, and spontaneous reporting data.
U.S. health care personnel (HCP) have reported that some respiratory protective devices (RPD) commonly used in health care have suboptimal tolerability. Between 2012 and 2016, the U.S. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and the Veterans Health Administration collaborated with two respirator manufacturers, Company A and B, to bring new RPD with improved tolerability to the U.S. health care marketplace. The purpose of this study was to compare the tolerability of four new prototype RPD to ...
Understanding the association between MR parameters and age related deterioration in human intervertebral disks forms an important step in the development of clinical diagnostic protocols for disk disease.
