Sensitive, simple and rapid colorimetric detection of Malachite green in water, salmon and canned tuna samples based on gold nanoparticles.

Malachite green is used in aquaculture and fisheries as fungicides and antiseptic and it is also used in industry as a dye. However, Malachite green is carcinogenic and highly toxic for human and animal. In this study, a spectrophotometric method was developed to detect Malachite green. The method was based on the surface plasmon resonance property of gold nanoparticles and interaction between malachite green and gold nanoparticles.

Gold nanoparticles of different shape for bicolor lateral flow test.

Spherical gold nanoparticles are the most commonly used marker in lateral flow assays. However, the widespread practice of using identical coloration for the test and control zones of test strips can lead to erroneous interpretations of the assay's results. We propose an immunochromatographic test strip with lines of different colors. For this purpose, gold nanoparticles of different shapes were used, namely blue nanoflowers in the test zone and red gold nanospheres in the control zone. A detailed synthesis...

A translational approach to assess the metabolomic impact of stabilized gold nanoparticles by NMR spectroscopy.

Gold nanoparticles have high potential in the biomedical area, especially in disease diagnosis and treatment. The application of these nanoparticles requires the presence of stabilizers to avoid their agglomeration. Nowadays, there is a lack of reliable methods for characterising the effect of stabilised nanoparticles on biological systems. To this end, in this study, we apply an experimental approach based on nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy to study the effect of gold nanoparticles, stabilised with...

Surface plasmon resonance of gold nanoparticles as a colorimetric sensor for indirect detection of Cefixime.

This study reports a colorimetric sensor with excellent sensitivity to detect Cefixime base on gold nanoparticles. Cefixime is an antibiotic which has a wide range of applications in medicine. Cefixime did not change the surface plasmon resonance bond in gold nanoparticles solution; therefore, there was no change in the color solution of gold nanoparticles. The presence of Alizarin Red S in the system was necessary for the degradation of Cefixime, resulting in the aggregation of gold nanoparticles and a col...

Genetic diversity of porcine circovirus type 2 in China between 1999-2017.

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV-2), is linked to PCV-2 associated disease, which has caused considerable economic loss in the swine industry. Here, we report the genetic diversity of PCV-2 in China. A total of 74 Chinese PCV-2 strains sequenced between 1999 and 2017 were studied. Based on the ORF2 and complete genomes, we found that apart from the PCV-2a, PCV-2b, and PCV-2d genotypes, two unstable recombination genotypes also exist, referred to as IM1 and IM2 genotypes. We found that the patterns of PCV-2 ge...

Docetaxel-Loaded Hyaluronic Acid-Cathepsin B Cleavable Peptide-Gold Nanoparticles for The Treatment of Cancer.

The social issue lies at the core of the group's justifications to achieve its goals. In this regard, this paper aims to analyze how the social issue has been addressed by BRICS. The methodology was based...

Enzyme-triggered self-assembly of gold nanoparticles for enhanced retention effects and photothermal therapy of prostate cancer.

A peptide-modified gold nanoparticle was developed for tumour-targeted therapy. Triggered by alkaline phosphatase, the CREKA-YPFFK(Nph) peptide can self-assemble and further result in accumulation of gold nanoparticles in tumour cells. The large-sized gold nanoparticle aggregates cannot escape from the tumour tissue, therefore realizing the goal of tumour-specific targeting, enhanced retention and photothermal effects.

Understanding gold nanoparticle dissolution in cyanide-containing solution via impact-chemistry.

The electrochemical dissolution of citrate-capped gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) was studied in cyanide (CN-) containing solutions. It was found that the gold nanoparticles exhibited different dissolution behaviours as ensembles compared to the single particles. At the single particle level, a nearly complete oxidation of 60 nm AuNPs was achieved at concentrations greater than or equal to 35.0 mM CN- and at a potential of 1.0 V. Mechanistic insights and rate data are reported.

Direct electron-beam patterning of transferrable plasmonic gold nanoparticles using a HAuCl/PVP composite resist.

Reliable fabrication of gold nanoparticles with desirable size, geometry and spatial arrangement is essential for plasmonic applications. A common fabrication flow usually involves electron-beam lithography and a vacuum-evaporation-based lift-off process or etching. In this work, we evaluate an alternative approach to directly fabricate a plasmonic gold nanoparticle array without involving the vacuum evaporation process by using a chloroauric acid/poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (HAuCl4/PVP) hybrid as a functional ...
