Treating Childhood Apraxia of Speech With the Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol: A Phase I Pilot Study.

A Phase I pilot study was designed to collect preliminary evidence on the use of the Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol (K-SLP; Kaufman, 2014) to treat children with childhood apraxia of speech. We hypothesized that the K-SLP approach would result in more accurate speech production in targeted words, whereas untrained (control) words and speech sounds would remain unchanged.

The anomalous Hall effect, observed in conducting ferromagnets with broken time-reversal symmetry, offers the possibility to couple spin and orbital degrees of freedom of electrons in ferromagnets. We show theoretically that both the intrinsic spin Hall effect (SHE) and orbital Hall effect (OHE) can arise in centrosymmetric systems through momentum-space orbital texture, which is ubiquitous even in centrosymmetric systems unlike spin texture. The OHE occurs even without spin-orbit coupling (SOC) and is converted into the SHE through SOC. Hall Number of Strongly Correlated Metals.

An exact formula for the temperature dependent Hall number of metals is derived. It is valid for nonrelativistic fermions or bosons, with an arbitrary potential and interaction. This dc transport coefficient is proven to (remarkably) depend solely on equilibrium susceptibilities, which are more amenable to numerical algorithms than the conductivity. An application to strongly correlated phases is demonstrated by calculating the Hall sign in the vicinity of Mott phases of lattice bosons.

Enhanced spin Hall effect of light by transmission in a polymer.

We demonstrate experimentally the lateral circular birefringence of a tunable birefringent polymer, the first example of the spin Hall effect of light in a polymeric material, and we demonstrate that this light shift can be significantly enhanced by tuning the effective birefringence in the polymer. We report experimental observations of this effect using polarimetric techniques and quantum-weak-measurement techniques, reporting a weak amplification factor of 200.
