We reply to the comment on our paper by Yu.A. Budkov (2018 J. Phys.: Condens. Matter 30 344001).

Reply to Comment on 'Linear energy transfer incorporated intensity modulated proton therapy optimization'.

In this reply we present additional description of our linear model for LET optimization in response to the comments by Dr Gorissen. We clarify that this model cannot guarantee global optimal solutions to the sum-of-fractions problem. Based on our data, it could be used to optimize LET efficiently while dose constraints are maintained.

In their Comment, Rehman and Ahmad have noted that the damping rate of Langmuir oscillations in a q-nonextensive electron-positron plasma is always negative and so resulting only in Landau damped oscillations and no unstable modes. As a Reply, I would like to resolve the origin of the misleading result in Phys. Rev.
