The study will evaluate the effectiveness of ixabepilone when given after doxorubicin plus cyclophosphamide compared to standard treatment of paclitaxel given after doxorubicin plus cyclophosphamide in patients with early stage breast cancer. In addition the study will verify predefined biomarkers as well as discover new biomarkers that could identify patients who are more likely to respond to ixabepilone than standard paclitaxel based therapy
Allocation: Randomized, Control: Active Control, Endpoint Classification: Safety/Efficacy Study, Intervention Model: Parallel Assignment, Masking: Open Label, Primary Purpose: Treatment

We propose to evaluate ixabepilone in combination with cyclophosphamide for the neoadjuvant treatment of locally advanced breast cancer. In this regimen, ixabepilone is substituted for doc...
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, and paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combinin...
This is a phase II single-arm, open-label, prospective study to evaluate the efficacy of the low dose weekly Carboplatin/Paclitaxel followed by dose-dense Doxorubicin/Cyclophosphamide in s...
This randomized phase III trial studies how well doxorubicin hydrochloride and cyclophosphamide followed by paclitaxel with or without carboplatin work in treating patients with triple-neg...
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel, doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide, and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the c...
Dose-dense administration of chemotherapy and the addition of taxanes to anthracycline-based adjuvant chemotherapy have improved breast cancer survival substantially. However, clinical trials directly...
Paclitaxel (taxol) is an important agent against many tumors, including breast cancer. Ample data documents that paclitaxel inhibits breast cancer metastasis while others prove that paclitaxel enhance...
Based on improvement in pathologic complete response (pCR) in the NeoSphere and TRYPHAENA studies, the FDA approved neoadjuvant pertuzumab for HER2+ localized breast cancer. These studies demonstrat...
Doxorubicin is one of the most active agents in the first-line therapy for metastatic breast cancer, but its utility is partially limited by the frequent emergence of doxorubicin resistance. In this s...
Oestrogen receptor (ER) is expressed in approximately 60%-70% of human breast cancer. Clinical trials and retrospective analyses have shown that ER-positive (ER+) tumours are more tolerant to chemothe...
Abnormal accumulation of lymph in the arm, shoulder and breast area associated with surgical or radiation breast cancer treatments (e.g., MASTECTOMY).
Metastatic breast cancer characterized by EDEMA and ERYTHEMA of the affected breast due to LYMPHATIC METASTASIS and eventual obstruction of LYMPHATIC VESSELS by the cancer cells.
Precursor of an alkylating nitrogen mustard antineoplastic and immunosuppressive agent that must be activated in the LIVER to form the active aldophosphamide. It has been used in the treatment of LYMPHOMA and LEUKEMIA. Its side effect, ALOPECIA, has been used for defleecing sheep. Cyclophosphamide may also cause sterility, birth defects, mutations, and cancer.
A infiltrating (invasive) breast cancer, relatively uncommon, accounting for only 5%-10% of breast tumors in most series. It is often an area of ill-defined thickening in the breast, in contrast to the dominant lump characteristic of ductal carcinoma. It is typically composed of small cells in a linear arrangement with a tendency to grow around ducts and lobules. There is likelihood of axillary nodal involvement with metastasis to meningeal and serosal surfaces. (DeVita Jr et al., Cancer: Principles & Practice of Oncology, 3d ed, p1205)
A deoxycytidine derivative and fluorouracil PRODRUG that is used as an ANTINEOPLASTIC ANTIMETABOLITE in the treatment of COLON CANCER; BREAST CANCER and GASTRIC CANCER.
