2014-07-24 14:34:03 | BioPortfolio

Summary

This study will gather and compare data about the effectiveness and safety of two different treatments for extensive Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC) in patients who have not received previous chemotherapy. One treatment will use an investigational drug in combination with an FDA approved chemotherapy. The other treatment will use a combination of two FDA approved chemotherapy drugs.

Study Of Irinotecan Hydrochloride (Campto(R)) And Cisplatin Versus Etoposide And Cisplatin In Small Cell Lung Cancer

To compare the effects of irinotecan hydrochloride with cisplatin to the "standard" regimen etoposide plus cisplatin on overall survival, in chemotherapy-naive patients with newly diagnose...

Apatinib as the Maintenance Therapy for Extensive Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer After Combined With Etoposide/Cisplatin

Apatinib has been approved as a second-line treatment for advanced gastric cancer. Several phase III clinical studies of non small cell lung cancer, liver cancer, colorectal cancer and oth...

Etoposide Plus Lobaplatin Versus Etoposide Plus Cisplatin for Patients With Limited Small-cell Lung Cancer

NDRG1 disruption alleviates cisplatin/sodium glycididazole-induced DNA damage response and apoptosis in ERCC1-defective lung cancer cells.

Resistance to platinum-based chemotherapy becomes a major obstacle in lung cancer treatment. Compensatory activation of nucleotide excision repair (NER) pathway is the major mechanism accounting for c...

S-1-based concurrent chemoradiotherapy in the treatment of locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis protocol.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the world, and non-small cell lung cancer accounts for > 75% of all lung cancer cases. Cisplatin-based concurrent chemoradiotherapy has bec...

An Outpatient, Dose-Intense, Intravenous Cisplatin and Oral Etoposide Regimen for the Treatment of Advanced, Platinum-Resistant Ovarian Cancer.

Advanced-stage, platinum-resistant, ovarian cancer can be treated with dose-intense chemotherapy; one such regimen includes intravenous cisplatin and oral etoposide. To minimize the toxicity associate...

Adjuvant vinorelbine and cisplatin after complete resection of stage II and III non-small cell lung cancer: long-term follow-up of our study of Japanese patients.

We reported previously a phase II study of adjuvant chemotherapy consisting of four cycles of vinorelbine (25 mg/m) and cisplatin (40 mg/m), given on days 1 and 8, every 4 weeks, to Japanese patien...

BBI608 inhibits cancer stemness and reverses cisplatin resistance in NSCLC.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most common cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. While partial or complete tumor regression can be achieved in patients, particularly with cisplatin-base...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

An inorganic and water-soluble platinum complex. After undergoing hydrolysis, it reacts with DNA to produce both intra and interstrand crosslinks. These crosslinks appear to impair replication and transcription of DNA. The cytotoxicity of cisplatin correlates with cellular arrest in the G2 phase of the cell cycle.

Malignant neoplasm arising from the epithelium of the BRONCHI. It represents a large group of epithelial lung malignancies which can be divided into two clinical groups: SMALL CELL LUNG CANCER and NON-SMALL-CELL LUNG CARCINOMA.

A form of highly malignant lung cancer that is composed of small ovoid cells (SMALL CELL CARCINOMA).

A semisynthetic derivative of PODOPHYLLOTOXIN that exhibits antitumor activity. Etoposide inhibits DNA synthesis by forming a complex with topoisomerase II and DNA. This complex induces breaks in double stranded DNA and prevents repair by topoisomerase II binding. Accumulated breaks in DNA prevent entry into the mitotic phase of cell division, and lead to cell death. Etoposide acts primarily in the G2 and S phases of the cell cycle.

A heterogeneous aggregate of at least three distinct histological types of lung cancer, including SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA; ADENOCARCINOMA; and LARGE CELL CARCINOMA. They are dealt with collectively because of their shared treatment strategy.
