The purpose of this study is to test whether different indoor temperature affects the frequency of sleep apnea.
This study was started in 2007 with the intention to study 40 patients, which was stated in the ethical committee approval. It was also sent to ClinicalTrials.gov in 2007. By a mistake it was declared completed in 2008 with the inclusion of 24 patients. The investigators have, however, included more patients and therefore send this application to ClinicalTrials.gov for the inclusion of another 16 patients, to accomplish a total of 40 patients, according to our intention and approval from the ethical board of Umeå University.

A condition associated with multiple episodes of sleep apnea which are distinguished from obstructive sleep apnea (SLEEP APNEA, OBSTRUCTIVE) by the complete cessation of efforts to breathe. This disorder is associated with dysfunction of central nervous system centers that regulate respiration. A disorder characterized by recurrent apneas during sleep despite persistent respiratory efforts. It is due to upper airway obstruction. The respiratory pauses may induce HYPERCAPNIA or HYPOXIA. Cardiac arrhythmias and elevation of systemic and pulmonary arterial pressures may occur. Frequent partial arousals occur throughout sleep, resulting in relative SLEEP DEPRIVATION and daytime tiredness. Associated conditions include OBESITY; ACROMEGALY; MYXEDEMA; micrognathia; MYOTONIC DYSTROPHY; adenotonsilar dystrophy; and NEUROMUSCULAR DISEASES.
