Safety and Efficacy of Synthetic Human Secretin-Enhanced MRCP in Subjects With Abnormalities of the Pancreas

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of RG1068 (synthetic human secretin) with MRCP in subjects with abnormalities of the pancreas.

Synthetic Human Secretin in Children With Autism and Gastrointestinal Dysfunction

The purpose of the study is to determine the effect of multiple doses of secretin on autism.

Secretin-enhanced Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography (S-MRCP) and Pancreatic Function Following Surgery

The aim of this study will be to determine whether secretin-enhanced MRCP (S-MRCP) as well as traditional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the pancreas will allow the investigators to q...

Synthetic Human Secretin in Children With Autism

The purpose of the study is to determine whether multiple doses of secretin are safe and effective in the treatment of children with autism.

MRCP: A Reliable, Non Invasive Method for Staging Chronic Pancreatitis in Pediatrics

The goal of this research study is to learn more about the pancreas. The investigators want to use Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) to learn more about the size of a norm...

Cryo-EM structure of the bifunctional secretin complex of Thermus thermophilus.

Secretins form multimeric channels across the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria that mediate the import or export of substrates and/or extrusion of type IV pili. The secretin complex of Thermus...

Activating P2X7 Receptors Increases Proliferation of Human Pancreatic Cancer Cells via ERK1/2 and JNK.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of the activated P2X7 receptors on the proliferation and growth of human pancreatic cancer cells.

Impact of anatomical position of the pancreas on postoperative complications and drain amylase concentrations after laparoscopic distal gastrectomy for gastric cancer.

Laparoscopic surgery for gastric cancer requires traction or compression of the pancreas, with the extent depending on the anatomical position of the pancreas. This study investigated the impact of th...

Pancreas volume in health and disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

The pancreas plays a central role in metabolism and is involved in the pathogenesis of several diseases. Pancreas volume is a holistic quantitative measure of pancreas size but the clinical relevance ...

Organoid Models of Cancer Explode with Possibilities.

Organoids have tremendous promise for modeling human cancers and revealing new biological insights. Sachs et al. (2018), Seino et al. (2018) (in this issue of Cell Stem Cell), and Broutier et al. (...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

The transference of a pancreas from one human or animal to another.

Gram-negative bacterial secretion systems which carry out the secretion of folded proteins.T2SSs secrete folded proteins from the PERIPLASMIC SPACE that have been exported there by SEC TRANSLOCASE or TAT SECRETION SYSTEMS, or they secrete folded proteins directly from the CYTOPLASM. The T2SSs have four substructures, an ATPase, an inner membrane platform, a pseudopilin, and secretin, an outer membrane complex which is a channel for secretion. (This bacterial secretin is not the same as the mammalian hormone also named SECRETIN.)

A synthetic retinoid that is used orally as a chemopreventive against prostate cancer and in women at risk of developing contralateral breast cancer. It is also effective as an antineoplastic agent.

A homolog of p53 TUMOR SUPPRESSOR PROTEIN that encodes full-length trans-activating and N-terminally-truncated (DeltaN) isoforms. Detection of splice variants and isoforms in the nervous system (human TELENCEPHALON, CHOROID PLEXUS; CEREBROSPINAL FLUID), embryonic tissue, human BREAST CANCER; OVARIAN CANCER, suggest roles in cellular differentiation.

The major component (about 80%) of the PANCREAS composed of acinar functional units of tubular and spherical cells. The acinar cells synthesize and secrete several digestive enzymes such as TRYPSINOGEN; LIPASE; AMYLASE; and RIBONUCLEASE. Secretion from the exocrine pancreas drains into the pancreatic ductal system and empties into the DUODENUM.
