Ultrasound Guided Percutaneous Microwave Ablation for Benign Breast Lesions

2016-08-10 08:08:21 | BioPortfolio

Summary

The investigators will perform this study to prospectively analyse the clinical outcome after percutaneous microwave ablation(MWA) of benign breast lesion (BBL) under ultrasound (US) guidance.

Description

A total of more than 500 patients diagnosed with BBLs in seven centers of China will be recruited in this study and underwent US-guided percutaneous MWA treatment. Information for each patient includes demographics; longest diameters of tumors; tumor numbers; tumor pathological type; location of tumor according to whether adjacent to skin, pectoralis, areola and papilla. Ablation variables including session, puncture, time, and power; complications; reduction in volume, palpability, pain and cosmetic satisfying outcomes will be measured and analyzed.

Microwave Ablation Versus Resection for Resectable Colorectal Liver Metastases

This study aims to prove that a strategy of first line local ablation of colorectal liver metastases with microwaves is not inferior to liver resections in terms of survival rates at three...

Ultrasound-guided Percutaneous Microwave Ablation for Benign Thyroid Nodules

Percutaneous microwave ablation(MWA) was reported as an effective modality for the management of thyroid nodules(TNs). This study aims to validate MWA as a feasible approach for patients w...

Efficacy of surgical microwave ablation for recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma after curative hepatectomy.

Little evidence exists regarding postrecurrence survival after microwave ablation for recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after curative hepatectomy; we aimed to evaluate the feasibility of surgi...

Microwave Ablation for the Removal of Benign Lesion of Nasal Cavity: "How I Do It".

Percutaneous ultrasound guided radiofrequency and microwave ablation in the treatment of hepatic metastases. A monocentric initial experience.

Percutaneous radiofrequency (RFA) and microwave ablation (MWA) are currently the best treatment options forpatients with liver metastases (LM) who cannot undergo a liver resection procedure. Presently...

Theranostic liposomes as nanodelivered chemotherapeutics enhanced the microwave ablation of hepatocellular carcinoma.

This study aimed to develop indocyanine green- and doxorubicin-loaded liposomes (DILPs) as theranostic nanoplatform for the detection of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and as an efficient chemotherape...

Efficacy of thermal ablation in benign non-functioning solid thyroid nodule: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Image-guided thermal ablations are commonly used in the treatment of thyroid nodules. Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and laser ablation are the most commonly used. Here we aimed to obtain solid evidenc...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Removal of tissue by vaporization, abrasion, or destruction. Methods used include heating tissue by hot liquids or microwave thermal heating, freezing (CRYOABLATION), chemical ablation, and photoablation with LASERS.

A common and benign breast disease characterized by varying degree of fibrocystic changes in the breast tissue. There are three major patterns of morphological changes, including FIBROSIS, formation of CYSTS, and proliferation of glandular tissue (adenosis). The fibrocystic breast has a dense irregular, lumpy, bumpy consistency.

A rare, benign, inflammatory breast disease occurring in premenopausal women shortly after a recent pregnancy. The origin is unknown but it is commonly mistaken for malignancy and sometimes associated with BREAST FEEDING and the use of ORAL CONTRACEPTIVES.

A benign neoplasm derived from glandular epithelium, in which cystic accumulations of retained secretions are formed. In some instances, considerable portions of the neoplasm, or even the entire mass, may be cystic. (Stedman, 25th ed)

A circumscribed benign epithelial tumor projecting from the surrounding surface; more precisely, a benign epithelial neoplasm consisting of villous or arborescent outgrowths of fibrovascular stroma covered by neoplastic cells. (Stedman, 25th ed)
