Polymyositis and dermatomyositis are characterized by the association to a myopathic syndrome, inflammatory infiltrates in the skeletal muscle. They remain, even today, an important factor...
RA (rheumatoid arthritis) patients effectively treated weekly with SC (subcutaneous) Abatacept will be switched to IV (intravenous) Abatacept and restarted with SC Abatacept four after IV ...
To evaluate safety and immunogenicity of abatacept when used with or without methotrexate in the absence of an IV loading dose of abatacept
The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy of abatacept after subcutaneous administration and intravenous administration in Japanese active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) subjects with...
This study will determine the efficacy, safety, tolerability and the PK profile of BAF312, a novel immunomodulator, in polymyositis and dermatomyositis patients that are not responsive to ...
Costimulatory interactions control T cell activation at sites of activated antigen-presenting cells, including B cells. Blockade of the CD28/CD80/CD86 costimulatory axis with CTLA4Ig (abatacept) is wi...
AbataCepT In rOutiNe clinical practice (ACTION; NCT02109666) was an observational study of patients with rheumatoid arthritis who initiated intravenous abatacept in clinical practice. We aimed to comp...
Belatacept, the CD28-B7 costimulation pathway inhibitor, has been approved as a calcineurin inhibitor (CNI) alternative in kidney transplantation. Although costimulation blockade (CoB) allows for CNI ...
The aim of this study was to assess abatacept in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patient. Patients (20 men, 89 women, aged 61.9 ± 10.4 y) who responded inadequately to conventional synthetic disease-mo...
To assess serum interleukin (IL)-17A levels in patients with dermatomyositis (DM) and polymyositis (PM) and correlate them with the demographic, clinical, laboratory and therapeutic data of these dise...
Misunderstanding among individuals, frequently research subjects, of scientific methods such as randomization and placebo controls.
Diseases characterized by inflammation involving multiple muscles. This may occur as an acute or chronic condition associated with medication toxicity (DRUG TOXICITY); CONNECTIVE TISSUE DISEASES; infections; malignant NEOPLASMS; and other disorders. The term polymyositis is frequently used to refer to a specific clinical entity characterized by subacute or slowly progressing symmetrical weakness primarily affecting the proximal limb and trunk muscles. The illness may occur at any age, but is most frequent in the fourth to sixth decade of life. Weakness of pharyngeal and laryngeal muscles, interstitial lung disease, and inflammation of the myocardium may also occur. Muscle biopsy reveals widespread destruction of segments of muscle fibers and an inflammatory cellular response. (Adams et al., Principles of Neurology, 6th ed, pp1404-9)
A fusion protein immunoconjugate of the extracellular domain of CTLA4 and the Fc domain of human IgG1. It functions as a T-cell co-stimulation blocker that inhibits TNF-ALPHA and prevents the activation of T-LYMPHOCYTES. It is used in the treatment of RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS.
An effect usually, but not necessarily, beneficial that is attributable to an expectation that the regimen will have an effect, i.e., the effect is due to the power of suggestion.
A syndrome with overlapping clinical features of systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, polymyositis, and Raynaud's phenomenon. The disease is differentially characterized by high serum titers of antibodies to ribonuclease-sensitive extractable (saline soluble) nuclear antigen and a "speckled" epidermal nuclear staining pattern on direct immunofluorescence.
