Effects of Epidural Anesthesia and Analgesia on the Prognosis in Patients Undergoing Pancreatic Cancer Surgery

2017-08-10 15:08:21 | BioPortfolio

The purpose of this randomized controlled trial is to investigate the effects of epidural anesthesia and analgesia on the overall survival,disease-free survival and recovery in patients undergoing pancreatic cancer surgery. This study will also evaluate the effects of this technique on the neuroendocrine, stress and inflammatory response in these patients.

Effects of Epidural Block on the Prognosis in Patients With Pancreatic Cancer Undergoing Distal Pancreatectomy

The purpose of this randomized controlled clinical trial is to investigate the effects of epidural block on overall survival,disease-free survival and recovery in patients with pancreati...

Epidural Anesthesia/Analgesia and Outcome of Patients After Lung Cancer Surgery

Some studies suggest that regional anesthesia/analgesia may decrease the rate of recurrence/metastasis in patients after cancer surgery. However, evidences from prospective studies are sti...

Epidural Anesthesia and Long-term Outcomes in Elderly Patients After Surgery

Surgical resection is one of the most important treatments for solid organ cancer. Whereas cancer recurrence and/or metastasis are the major reasons of treatment failure. The outcomes afte...

Role of Patient-controlled Epidural Analgesia After Total Hip Replacement

Total hip replacement (THR) is frequently followed by high pain experience. Epidural analgesia is a mainstay in postoperative treatment in patients after THR. The investigators found that ...

The Unusual Suspects of the Pancreas-Understanding Pancreatic Acinar Cell Carcinomas and Adenomas.

Acinar cell carcinomas (ACC) and adenomas (ACA) of the pancreas are rare entities. Sufficient knowledge about occurrence and prognosis is scarce.

Deep Q Learning Driven CT Pancreas Segmentation with Geometry-Aware U-Net.

Segmentation of pancreas is important for medical image analysis, yet it faces great challenges of class imbalance, background distractions and non-rigid geometrical features. To address these difficu...

Metformin Treatment and Cancer Risk: Cox Regression Analysis with Time-Dependent Covariates of 320,000 Individuals with Incident Diabetes Mellitus.

There is conflicting evidence regarding the association between metformin use and cancer risk in diabetic patients. During 2002-2012, we followed a cohort of 315,890 incident diabetic individuals aged...

Outcomes after simultaneous kidney-pancreas versus pancreas after kidney transplantation in the current era.

Simultaneous pancreas and kidney (SPK) and pancreas after kidney (PAK) transplant are both potential options for diabetic ESRD patients. Historically, PAK pancreas graft outcomes were felt to be infer...

FAM111B Mutation Is Associated With Pancreatic Cancer Predisposition.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

The transference of a pancreas from one human or animal to another.

The major component (about 80%) of the PANCREAS composed of acinar functional units of tubular and spherical cells. The acinar cells synthesize and secrete several digestive enzymes such as TRYPSINOGEN; LIPASE; AMYLASE; and RIBONUCLEASE. Secretion from the exocrine pancreas drains into the pancreatic ductal system and empties into the DUODENUM.

A cancer registry mandated under the National Cancer Act of 1971 to operate and maintain a population-based cancer reporting system, reporting periodically estimates of cancer incidence and mortality in the United States. The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program is a continuing project of the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health. Among its goals, in addition to assembling and reporting cancer statistics, are the monitoring of annual cancer incident trends and the promoting of studies designed to identify factors amenable to cancer control interventions. (From National Cancer Institute, NIH Publication No. 91-3074, October 1990)

Star-shaped, myofibroblast-like cells located in the periacinar, perivascular, and periductal regions of the EXOCRINE PANCREAS. They play a key role in the pathobiology of FIBROSIS; PANCREATITIS; and PANCREATIC CANCER.

Cyst-like space not lined by EPITHELIUM and contained within the PANCREAS. Pancreatic pseudocysts account for most of the cystic collections in the pancreas and are often associated with chronic PANCREATITIS.
