Aerobic Exercise and Blood Biochemical Factors in Spinal Cord Injury

Background: Patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) have a higher prevalence of cardiovascular diseases compared to the healthy population. Aerobic exercise training is one of the recommen...

Supervised Exercise-training in Children With Insulin Resistance or Healthy Metabolic Profile

Despite exercise training decrease blood fasting glycemia in 'average' terms, there is a wide interindividual variability after exercise training explored mainly in adults but not in child...

Exercise Training in Dystonia

The purpose of this research study is to investigate how the brain and motor behavior changes in individuals with dystonia and other involuntary movement disorders and healthy individuals ...

Exercise Training in Children With Congenital Heart Defect

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of exercise training on exercise capacity, physical activity (PA), health-related quality of life (HRQoL), and the psychosocial fac...

TeleRehabilitation in Hypertension

The purpose of this RCT which will be performed in 60 healthy adults is I. To assess the training effects of 8 weeks of isometric handgrip exercise on BP; and to test whether it yields at ...

Aerobic exercise prior to task-specific training to improve poststroke motor function: A case series.

Aerobic exercise can improve upper limb motor function in both healthy and stroke populations. Research in animals after stroke has shown that aerobic exercise combined with forelimb motor training im...

Electrical Stimulation of the Antagonist Muscle during Cycling Exercise Interval Training Improves Oxygen Uptake and Muscle Strength.

A hybrid training system (HTS) is a resistance exercise method that combines voluntary concentric muscle contractions and electrically stimulated eccentric muscle contractions. We devised an exercise ...

Exercise Training Mitigates Multi-System Deconditioning during Bed Rest.

This study investigated the safety and effectiveness of a new integrated aerobic and resistance exercise training prescription (SPRINT) using two different sets of exercise equipment: a suite of large...

Neuronal nitric oxide synthase regulation of skeletal muscle functional hyperemia: Exercise training and moderate compensated heart failure.

Nitric oxide (NO) modulates oxygen delivery-utilization matching in resting and contracting skeletal muscle. Recent reports indicate that neuronal NO synthase (nNOS)-mediated vasoregulation during con...

Energy compensation after sprint- and high-intensity interval training.

Many individuals lose less weight than expected in response to exercise interventions when considering the increased energy expenditure of exercise (ExEE). This is due to energy compensation in respon...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A cardiovascular exercise strategy with alternating short periods of intense anaerobic exercise with less-intense recovery periods.

A type of strength-building exercise program that requires the body muscle to exert a force against some form of resistance, such as weight, stretch bands, water, or immovable objects. Resistance exercise is a combination of static and dynamic contractions involving shortening and lengthening of skeletal muscles.

The exercise capacity of an individual as measured by endurance (maximal exercise duration and/or maximal attained work load) during an EXERCISE TEST.

Controlled physical activity, more strenuous than at rest, which is performed in order to allow assessment of physiological functions, particularly cardiovascular and pulmonary, but also aerobic capacity. Maximal (most intense) exercise is usually required but submaximal exercise is also used. The intensity of exercise is often graded, using criteria such as rate of work done, oxygen consumption, and heart rate.

Instructional programs in the care and development of the body, often in schools. The concept does not include prescribed exercises, which is EXERCISE THERAPY.
