Early Phase Study Comparing the Effectiveness of a Dairy Product With the Reference Treatment Aequasyal® on Dry Mouth Symptoms in Patients Suffering From Xerostomia Caused by Psychotropic Medications.

Dry mouth symptoms mostly occur as drug side-effects. Available products such as saliva substitutes are disappointing (bad taste, poor efficiency). The hypothesis stems from the "empirica...

Efficacy Study of Oxygenated Glycerol Triesters to Treat Xerostomia

The objective of the trial was to evaluate the efficacy and clinical safety and acceptability of Oxygenated Glycerol Triesters in the relief of symptoms of xerostomia versus a reference co...

OGT Spray in the Management of Xerostomia in the Elderly

The primary objective of the trial is to evaluate the efficacy, safety and clinical acceptability of OGT ormucosal spray in the relief of symptoms and signs of xerostomia in comparison wit...

The Artificial Saliva Spray Reduces Xerostomia in Diabetes Type II

In diabetes Type II the xerostomia is a quite frequent symptom. In evaluating the activity of an artificial saliva spray compared to a water gel in patients with Diabetes Type II patients ...

Stemcells for Radiation Induced Xerostomia

The current study aims to assess the safety and feasibility of the injection of autologous adipost tissue derived MSCs on radiation-induced salivary gland hypofunction and xerostomia in he...

Two-stage microbial conversion of crude glycerol to 1,3-propanediol and polyhydroxyalkanoates after pretreatment.

With increasing demand for biodiesel, crude glycerol as a by-product in biodiesel production has been generated and oversupplied. This study, therefore, explored the pretreatment and a subsequent two-...

Dihydroxyacetone Production from Glycerol using Gluconobacter oxydans: Study of Medium Composition and Operational Conditions in Shaken Flasks.

The production of dihydroxyacetone from glycerol employing aerobic cultures of Gluconobacter oxydans is studied. Dihydroxyacetone is one of the most important value-added products obtained from glycer...

Predictive value of ultrasound scoring in relation to clinical and histological parameters in xerostomia patien.

Salivary gland dysfunction is one of the main clinical features of SS, manifested by xerostomia with subsequent complications and well-established effects on the person's quality of life.

Interaction between Acetic Acid and Glycerol: A Model for Secondary Reactions during Holocellulose Pyrolysis.

During pyrolysis of holocellulose, secondary reactions of the primary pyrolytic products are inevitable to occur, affecting the final pyrolytic product distribution. Carboxylic acids from primary pyro...

Enhanced electron transfer of different mediators for strictly opposite shifting of metabolism in Clostridium pasteurianum grown on glycerol in a new electrochemical bioreactor.

Microbial electrosynthesis or electro-fermentation in bioelectrochemical systems (BES) have recently received much attention. Here we demonstrate with the glycerol metabolism by Clostridium pasteurian...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

An enzyme that catalyzes the formation of glycerol 3-phosphate from ATP and glycerol. Dihydroxyacetone and L-glyceraldehyde can also act as acceptors; UTP and, in the case of the yeast enzyme, ITP and GTP can act as donors. It provides a way for glycerol derived from fats or glycerides to enter the glycolytic pathway. EC 2.7.1.30.

An NAD-dependent enzyme that catalyzes the oxidation of sn-glycerol 3-phosphate to glycerone phosphate.

Form in which product is processed or wrapped and labeled. PRODUCT LABELING is also available.

Compounds in which one or more of the three hydroxyl groups of glycerol are in ethereal linkage with a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic alcohol; one or two of the hydroxyl groups of glycerol may be esterified. These compounds have been found in various animal tissue.

Decreased salivary flow.
