99mTc-Pertechnetate-SPECT/US Hybrid Imaging Enhances Diagnostic Certainty Compared With Conventional Thyroid Imaging With Scintigraphy and Ultrasound.

Evaluation of thyroid ultrasound and Tc-pertechnetate scintigraphy side by side frequently produces ambiguous results regarding the correct assignment of anatomy and functionality of a nodule. We desc...

Radionuclide bone SPECT/CT in the evaluation of knee pain: comparing two-phase bone scintigraphy, SPECT and SPECT/CT.

To assess the role of SPECT/CT in the evaluation of knee pain as well as comparing bone scintigraphy (BS), SPECT and SPECT/CT, and assessing the incremental value of SPECT/CT.

The efficacy of fluorine-18-choline PET/CT in comparison with 99mTc-MIBI SPECT/CT in the localization of a hyperfunctioning parathyroid gland in primary hyperparathyroidism.

The aim of this study was to determine the role of fluorine-18-choline (F-FCH) PET/CT in comparison with technetium-99m-methoxyisobutylisonitrile (Tc-MIBI) single-photon emission computed tomography/c...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A method of computed tomography that uses radionuclides which emit a single photon of a given energy. The camera is rotated 180 or 360 degrees around the patient to capture images at multiple positions along the arc. The computer is then used to reconstruct the transaxial, sagittal, and coronal images from the 3-dimensional distribution of radionuclides in the organ. The advantages of SPECT are that it can be used to observe biochemical and physiological processes as well as size and volume of the organ. The disadvantage is that, unlike positron-emission tomography where the positron-electron annihilation results in the emission of 2 photons at 180 degrees from each other, SPECT requires physical collimation to line up the photons, which results in the loss of many available photons and hence degrades the image.

Healthy People Programs are a set of health objectives to be used by governments, communities, professional organizations, and others to help develop programs to improve health. It builds on initiatives pursued over the past two decades beginning with the 1979 Surgeon General's Report, Healthy People, Healthy People 2000: National Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Objectives, and Healthy People 2010. These established national health objectives and served as the basis for the development of state and community plans. These are administered by the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP). Similar programs are conducted by other national governments.

Governmental guidelines and objectives pertaining to public food supply and nutrition including recommendations for healthy diet and changes in food habits to ensure healthy diet.

Volunteer organizations whose members perform work for the hospital without compensation.

Professional or volunteer members of a fire department who are trained to suppress fire and respond to related emergency.
