The purpose of this study is to evaluate the health and arthritis-specific benefits of participation in the Arthritis Foundation People with Arthritis Can Exercise program and to collect i...

A Comparison of the ASHC and CDSMP

The arthritis-specific Arthritis Self Help Course (ASHC) and the more generic Chronic Disease Self Management Program (CDSMP) teach generalizable skills for managing arthritis and other ch...

Treatment of chronic chikungunya arthritis with methotrexate: a systematic review.

Chikungunya is a rapidly emerging, global viral infection that can cause chronic, debilitating arthritis that in some ways mimics rheumatoid arthritis. This study evaluated the available evidence of t...

The genetic profile of RF-positive polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) resembles adult rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is comprised of seven heterogeneous categories of chronic childhood arthritides. About 5% of children with JIA have rheumatoid factor (RF) positive arthritis, which...

Modulation of inflammatory arthritis by gut microbiota through mucosal inflammation and autoantibody generation.

Observations of microbial dysbiosis in patients with RA have raised interest in studying microbial-mucosal interactions as a potential trigger of RA. Using the murine collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) ...

Supporting arthritis and employment across the life course: A qualitative study.

To examine the need, availability and use of formal and informal workplace resources, and uncover differences across the life course for adults with arthritis.

Involvement of T helper 17 cells in inflammatory arthritis depends on the host intestinal microbiota.

The intestinal microbiota has been associated with the development of inflammatory arthritis. The aim of this study was to dissect intestinal mucosal immune responses in the preclinical phase of arthr...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Arthritis in children, with onset before 16 years of age. The terms juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) and juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) refer to classification systems for chronic arthritis in children. Only one subtype of juvenile arthritis (polyarticular-onset, rheumatoid factor-positive) clinically resembles adult rheumatoid arthritis and is considered its childhood equivalent.

Arthritis, especially of the great toe, as a result of gout. Acute gouty arthritis often is precipitated by trauma, infection, surgery, etc. The initial attacks are usually monoarticular but later attacks are often polyarticular.

An aseptic, inflammatory arthritis developing secondary to a primary extra-articular infection, most typically of the GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT or UROGENITAL SYSTEM. The initiating trigger pathogens are usually SHIGELLA; SALMONELLA; YERSINIA; CAMPYLOBACTER; or CHLAMYDIA TRACHOMATIS. Reactive arthritis is strongly associated with HLA-B27 ANTIGEN.

ARTHRITIS that is induced in experimental animals. Immunological methods and infectious agents can be used to develop experimental arthritis models. These methods include injections of stimulators of the immune response, such as an adjuvant (ADJUVANTS, IMMUNOLOGIC) or COLLAGEN.

A variable mixture of the mono- and disodium salts of gold thiomalic acid used mainly for its anti-inflammatory action in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. It is most effective in active progressive rheumatoid arthritis and of little or no value in the presence of extensive deformities or in the treatment of other forms of arthritis.
