Renal Function Measurements in Children

The purpose of this study is to validate a feasible, safe and reliable iohexol plasma clearance method in routine monitoring of the renal function (GFR) in children. Different parameters ...

Measuring the Plasma Clearance of Iohexol to Estimate Glomerular Filtration Rate in Intensive Care Unit Patients: Preliminary Feasibility Study

The objective of this study is to assess the feasibility of estimating the clearance of iohexol as an indirect measure of glomerular filtration rate in patients with unstable renal functio...

Renal MR Feasibility in Renal Disease

To use Non-invasive MR Imaging of Renal Physiology and structure to assess patients with Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).

Measurement of Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) in HIV Patients: Single-center Study Comparing the Accuracy of Estimators of GFR Versus Iohexol Plasma Clearance

Cystatin C, a protease inhibitor produced by most nucleated cells, is freely filtered by the kidneys, and its plasma assay reflects the GFR. Compare, in HIV patients, the predictive perfo...

Relative Bioavailability of CE-Iohexol (Captisol-enabled™ Iohexol) Injection and Omnipaque™ Injection

This study is designed to compare the bioavailability of the test Product(CE-Iohexol Injection) and the reference product Iohexol Injection (Omnipaque™) following intravenous injection i...

Enhanced Renal Clearance in Patients With Hemorrhagic Stroke.

To evaluate enhanced renal clearance over time in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage or intracerebral hemorrhage via measured creatinine clearance and to compare measured creatinine clea...

Clearance in Drug Design.

Due to its implications for both dose level and frequency, clearance rate is one of the most important pharmacokinetic parameters to consider in the design of drug candidates. Clearance can be classif...

Measurement of glomerular filtration rate in patients undergoing obesity surgery.

Most studies on obesity surgery have measured renal function using the estimated GFR. However, due to the reduction of muscle mass, and therefore creatinine that accompanies weight loss, such measures...

Evaluation of Laser-Doppler-Fluxmetry for the diagnosis of microcirculatory disorders.

The laser Doppler fluxmetry (LDF) is a non-invasive method to assess skin blood perfusion, measuring the flow of blood cells inside a tissue volume without harming the tissue. In the diagnosis of skin...

Augmented renal clearance in critically ill trauma patients:a pathophysiologic approach using renal vascular index.

The aim of the present study was to explore the relationship between creatinine clearance (ClCr), cardiac index (CI) and renal vascular index (RVI) in order to assess the potential mechanisms driving ...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A method of non-invasive, continuous measurement of MICROCIRCULATION. The technique is based on the values of the DOPPLER EFFECT of low-power laser light scattered randomly by static structures and moving tissue particulates.

A technique utilizing a laser coupled to a catheter which is used in the dilatation of occluded blood vessels. This includes laser thermal angioplasty where the laser energy heats up a metal tip, and direct laser angioplasty where the laser energy directly ablates the occlusion. One form of the latter approach uses an EXCIMER LASER which creates microscopically precise cuts without thermal injury. When laser angioplasty is performed in combination with balloon angioplasty it is called laser-assisted balloon angioplasty (ANGIOPLASTY, BALLOON, LASER-ASSISTED).

Evaluation and measurement of nutritional variables in order to assess the level of nutrition or the NUTRITIONAL STATUS of the individual. NUTRITION SURVEYS may be used in making the assessment.

The amount of PLASMA flowing to the parts of the KIDNEY that function in the production of urine. It is the amount of plasma perfusing the KIDNEY TUBULES per unit time, generally measured by P-AMINOHIPPURATE clearance. It should be differentiated from RENAL PLASMA FLOW which is approximately 10% greater than the effective renal plasma flow.

Drugs used for their effects on the kidneys' regulation of body fluid composition and volume. The most commonly used are the diuretics. Also included are drugs used for their antidiuretic and uricosuric actions, for their effects on the kidneys' clearance of other drugs, and for diagnosis of renal function.
