Deliberate hypotension is used to provide bloodless field during endoscopic sinus surgery; however, hypotension might impair perfusion of vital organs. The aim of this work is to compare t...
The purpose of this study is to quantify the risk of hypotension due to field treatment with nitroglycerin in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction, particularly right ventricul...
The primary objective of the study is to evaluate the vasodilative effect of subcutaneous nitroglycerin during ultrasound-guided radial artery cannulation in pediatric patients. The hypoth...
Elective lumbar spine surgical procedures are commonly performed under controlled hypotension during general anesthesia. That is beneficial to limit the intraoperative blood loss and trans...
Controlled hypotension is a preferred method for reducing surgical bleeding during septoplasty operations however, the level of hypotension and bradycardia should not disrupt cerebral oxyg...
This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of the ClearSight™ system (Edwards Lifesciences, Irvine, CA) for reducing the incidence of hypotension compared with the traditional oscillometric blood ...
Migraine is a disease for which there is still no defined pathophysiological etiology and few translational models. The organic nitrate nitroglycerin has been in use as an experimental model of migrai...
Spinal anaesthesia causes hypotension that is countered through various methods. Phenylephrine is a vasoconstrictor and haemocoel increases the intravascular vascular volume; both have an effect in pr...
The aim of this study was to assess the impact of intravenous general anesthesia and controlled hypotension on cerebral saturation (rScO), cerebral blood flow measured as middle cerebral artery blood ...
Pre-operative ultrasonographic evaluation of inferior vena cava collapsibility index and caval aorta index as new predictors for hypotension after induction of spinal anaesthesia: A prospective observational study.
Hypotension after spinal anaesthesia is a common side effect that may be harmful. Patients' susceptibility to intra-operative hypotension can be affected by many pre-operative factors.
Procedure in which arterial blood pressure is intentionally reduced in order to control blood loss during surgery. This procedure is performed either pharmacologically or by pre-surgical removal of blood.
Implanted fluid propulsion systems with self-contained power source for providing long-term controlled-rate delivery of drugs such as chemotherapeutic agents or analgesics. Delivery rate may be externally controlled or osmotically or peristatically controlled with the aid of transcutaneous monitoring.
A vasodilator with general properties similar to NITROGLYCERIN. (From Martindale, The Extra Pharmacopoeia, 30th ed, p1020)
A vasodilator used in the treatment of ANGINA PECTORIS. Its actions are similar to NITROGLYCERIN but with a slower onset of action.
A precursor of noradrenaline that is used in the treatment of parkinsonism. The racemic form (DL-threo-3,4-dihydroxyphenylserine) has also been used, and has been investigated in the treatment of orthostatic hypotension. There is a deficit of noradrenaline as well as of dopamine in Parkinson's disease and it has been proposed that this underlies the sudden transient freezing seen usually in advanced disease. Administration of DL-threo-3,4-dihydroxyphenylserine has been claimed to result in an improvement in this phenomenon but controlled studies have failed to demonstrate improvement.
