Transplantation of Autologous Bone Marrow or Leukapheresis-Derived Stem Cells for Treatment of Spinal Cord Injury

This is a double-armed, Phase I/II trial aims to compare bone marrow and leukapheresis as sources for purified, autologous CD34+ and CD133+ stem cells (SCs), to be utilized in treatment of...

Mobilization and Collection of Peripheral Blood Stem Cells in Patients With Fanconi Anemia Using G-CSF and AMD3100

The purpose of this research study is to determine whether an experimental drug called AMD3100 used in combination with another medication called G-CSF is safe and can help to increase the...

Autologous Bone Marrow Stem Cell Therapy for Autism

The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of autologous bone marrow mononuclear stem cells in the management of autism.

Bone Marrow Transplantation Using CD34-Selected Stem Cells From Related or Unrelated Donors in Treating Participants With Cancer or Other Disorders

This expanded access protocol studies bone marrow transplantation using CD34-selected stem cells from related or unrelated donors in treating participants with cancer or other disorders. S...

Clinical Trial on the Use of Autologous Bone Marrow Stem Cells in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

The purpose of this clinical trial is to asses the feasibility and the security of the intraspinal infusion of autologous bone marrow stem cells for the treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sc...

Analysis of hematopoietic stem cells using a composite approach.

Stem cells or Cancer stem cells (CSCs) have now been identified in different type of tissues by using surface markers. Functional assays such as ALDEFLUOR and side population which are marker independ...

MISTRG mice support engraftment and assessment of nonhuman primate hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells.

Pre-clinical feasibility, safety, and efficacy testing of hematopoietic stem cell (HSC)-mediated gene therapy approaches is commonly performed in large animal models such as nonhuman primates (NHPs). ...

Aging and lineage allocation changes of bone marrow skeletal (stromal) stem cells.

Aging is associated with decreased bone mass and accumulation of bone marrow adipocytes. Both bone forming osteoblastic cells and bone marrow adipocytes are derived from a stem cell population within ...

Phenotypic characterization of malignant progenitor cells in patients with idiopathic myelofibrosis.

Idiopathic myelofibrosis (IM) is a clonal hematological malignancy originating from pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells (HSC). HSC are very rare potent cells that reside in the bone marrow (BM) and a...

Correction to: Treatment of stage II medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw with necrosectomy and autologous bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells.

In the Original publication of the article, the co-author has been misspelled as Fabian Duttenhöfer in the article "Treatment of stage II medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw with necrosectomy...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Transfer of HEMATOPOIETIC STEM CELLS from BONE MARROW or BLOOD between individuals within the same species (TRANSPLANTATION, HOMOLOGOUS) or transfer within the same individual (TRANSPLANTATION, AUTOLOGOUS). Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation has been used as an alternative to BONE MARROW TRANSPLANTATION in the treatment of a variety of neoplasms.

Techniques for the removal of subpopulations of cells (usually residual tumor cells) from the bone marrow ex vivo before it is infused. The purging is achieved by a variety of agents including pharmacologic agents, biophysical agents (laser photoirradiation or radioisotopes) and immunologic agents. Bone marrow purging is used in both autologous and allogeneic BONE MARROW TRANSPLANTATION.

Transplantation of stem cells collected from the peripheral blood. It is a less invasive alternative to direct marrow harvesting of hematopoietic stem cells. Enrichment of stem cells in peripheral blood can be achieved by inducing mobilization of stem cells from the BONE MARROW.

A cell-separation technique where magnetizable microspheres or beads are first coated with monoclonal antibody, allowed to search and bind to target cells, and are then selectively removed when passed through a magnetic field. Among other applications, the technique is commonly used to remove tumor cells from the marrow (BONE MARROW PURGING) of patients who are to undergo autologous bone marrow transplantation.

Glycoproteins found on immature hematopoietic cells and endothelial cells. They are the only molecules to date whose expression within the blood system is restricted to a small number of progenitor cells in the bone marrow.
