The investigators analyze the diagnostic efficacy of blood ammonia, neurophysiological/psychological tests and blood markers on MHE; to see the progression of HE under the condition of the drugs intervention and no drugs intervention in clinical real world.

In China, hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a common complication and one of the most serious manifestations of liver disease, not only increasing the risks of death, but also seriously affecting the lives of the patients and their caregivers. CHE includes the 1st stage of HE and minimal encephalopathy (MHE). It has indicated in a study that the mortality rates of covert hepatic encephalopathy (CHE) and overt hepatic encephalopathy (OHE) were both high (21% and 21.8% respectively). At present, CHE, especially MHE, is not easy to diagnose in daily clinical work. This study aims to early diagnose MHE and find suitable treatment to benefit patients. The investigators analyze the diagnostic efficacy of blood ammonia, neurophysiological/psychological tests and blood markers on MHE; to see the progression of HE under the condition of the drugs intervention and no drugs intervention in clinical real world.

Perspective of healthy asymptomatic patients requesting general blood tests from their physicians: a qualitative study.

Routine blood tests for young, healthy, asymptomatic patients have no proven value in early detection of diseases. Indeed, such tests have occasionally been found to be harmful. Although general blood...

Cost and efficacy comparison of prenatal recall and reflex DNA screening for trisomy 21, 18 and 13.

To compare costs and efficacy of reflex and recall prenatal DNA screening for trisomy 21, 18 and 13 (affected pregnancies). In both methods women have Combined test markers measured. With recall scree...

Dengue seroprevalence among asymptomatic blood donors during an epidemic outbreak in Central-West Brazil.

Dengue virus (DENV) transmission by blood transfusion is an important route of viral acquisition during outbreaks. The prevalence of DENV markers (viral RNA, NS1, anti-DENV IgM, and IgG) among blood d...

Thermopneumatic suction integrated microfluidic blood analysis system.

Blood tests provide crucial diagnostic information regarding several diseases. A key factor that affects the precision and accuracy of blood tests is the interference of red blood cells; however, the ...

Comparison of two bovine serum pregnancy tests in detection of artificial insemination pregnancies and pregnancy loss in beef cattle.

Blood tests for early detection of pregnancy in cattle based on pregnancy-associated glycoproteins (PAGs) are commercially available. The objective of these studies were to compare the accuracy of blo...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Tests of accuracy in pronouncing speech sounds, e.g., Iowa Pressure Articulation Test, Deep Test of Articulation, Templin-Darley Tests of Articulation, Goldman-Fristoe Test of Articulation, Screening Speech Articulation Test, Arizona Articulation Proficiency Scale.

A test to detect non-agglutinating ANTIBODIES against ERYTHROCYTES by use of anti-antibodies (the Coombs' reagent.) The direct test is applied to freshly drawn blood to detect antibody bound to circulating red cells. The indirect test is applied to serum to detect the presence of antibodies that can bind to red blood cells.

A test to determine the ability of an individual to maintain HOMEOSTASIS of BLOOD GLUCOSE. It includes measuring blood glucose levels in a fasting state, and at prescribed intervals before and after oral glucose intake (75 or 100 g) or intravenous infusion (0.5 g/kg).

Tests designed to assess language behavior and abilities. They include tests of vocabulary, comprehension, grammar and functional use of language, e.g., Development Sentence Scoring, Receptive-Expressive Emergent Language Scale, Parsons Language Sample, Utah Test of Language Development, Michigan Language Inventory and Verbal Language Development Scale, Illinois Test of Psycholinguistic Abilities, Northwestern Syntax Screening Test, Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test, Ammons Full-Range Picture Vocabulary Test, and Assessment of Children's Language Comprehension.

A self-reporting test consisting of items concerning fear and worry about taking tests and physiological activity, such as heart rate, sweating, etc., before, during, and after tests.
