High-flow Conditioned Oxygen Therapy Versus Non-invasive Ventilation: Prevention of Post-extubation Failure

The main aim is to demonstrate whether the high flow conditioned oxygen therapy reduces the reintubation rate. Post-extubation respiratory failure risk will be stratified (as the randomiza...

Extubation Failure Prevention in High Risk Patients by High-flow Conditioned Oxygen Therapy vs. Standard Oxygen Therapy

Failure of extubation after mechanical ventilation is a frequent and deleterious issue. Main reasons for failure are hypoxemia, secretions retention, lung collapse and excessive work of br...

Monitoring of Regional Lung Ventilation by Chest Electrical Impedance in the Course of Extubation

The Electrical Impedance Tomography is a on-invasive exam called "EIT" . This exam performed on the lung continuously produces cross-sectional images of lung function. It may be relevant i...

High-flow nasal oxygen therapy alone or with non-invasive ventilation in immunocompromised patients admitted to ICU for acute hypoxemic respiratory failure: the randomised multicentre controlled FLORALI-IM protocol.

Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is recommended as first-line therapy in respiratory failure of critically ill immunocompromised patients as it can decrease intubation and mortality rates as compared wi...

Is Single-Drug Prophylaxis in Migraine Prevention a Better Option than Combination Therapy? An Observational Study in a Rural Tertiary Care Center in North West India.

Migraine is a primary headache disorder that has a great impact on quality of life of patients. Pharmacologic therapy may be given in acute or abortive form and in the form of preventive therapy. In...

The procedure of presenting the conditioned stimulus without REINFORCEMENT to an organism previously conditioned. It refers also to the diminution of a conditioned response resulting from this procedure.

A broad approach to appropriate coordination of the entire disease treatment process that often involves shifting away from more expensive inpatient and acute care to areas such as preventive medicine, patient counseling and education, and outpatient care. This concept includes implications of appropriate versus inappropriate therapy on the overall cost and clinical outcome of a particular disease. (From Hosp Pharm 1995 Jul;30(7):596)
