The Effects of a Prostaglandin Inhibitor on Ovulation and the Menstrual Cycle

The investigators propose to test the hypothesis that the use of a prostaglandin inhibitor will result in premature luteolysis (ovulation failure) in women.

Celebrex and Metformin for Postoperative Hepatocellular Carcinoma

This prospective trial aims to compare the role of celebrex alone, metformin alone, and celebrex plus metformin in preventing HCC recurrence after hepatic resection.

The Role of COX-2 Inhibition in Salt Sensitivity of Blood Pressure

The purpose of this study is to determine if the drug Celebrex changes the way the kidney gets rid of salt and maintains blood pressure. There have been many studies done with analgesics ...

Celebrex Premedication in Teeth With Symptomatic Irreversible Pulpitis

Assessing the efficacy of Celebrex premedication on pain during and after endodontic treatment in teeth with symptomatic irreversible pulpits

Celebrex vs Tramadol in the Treatment of Chronic Lower Back Pain.

This study investigates if Celebrex is as effective as tramadol hydrochloride (Ultram) for patients with chronic low back pain, when administered over a 6-week period.

Igf3 serves as a mediator of LH in zebrafish ovulation.

Both oocyte maturation and ovulation is triggered by the luteinizing hormone (LH) surge in vertebrates, but exactly how these processes are regulated by LH remains to be fully elucidated. Previously w...

Amorphous multi-system of celecoxib improves its anti-inflammatory activity in vitro and oral absorption in rats.

In the present study, a multi-system for solid dispersion (SD) of celecoxib (CXB) was designed to improve its solubility and anti-inflammatory effects in vitro as well as oral absorption in rats. The ...

Candidate gene identification of ovulation-inducing genes by RNA sequencing with an in vivo assay in zebrafish.

We previously reported the microarray-based selection of three ovulation-related genes in zebrafish. We used a different selection method in this study, RNA sequencing analysis. An additional eight up...

Effect of estrous expression on timing and failure of ovulation of Holstein dairy cows using automated activity monitors.

The aim of this study was to determine if estrous expression, as measured by an automated activity monitor (AAM), affects timing and failure of ovulation of lactating Holstein dairy cows. Cows were eq...

Effect of copulation on estrus duration, LH response, and ovulation in Boer goats.

The objectives of this investigation were to determine the effect of copulation on estrus duration, LH response and ovulation in Boer goats. A controlled randomized study, with two replicates, in whic...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Blocking the process leading to OVULATION. Various factors are known to inhibit ovulation, such as neuroendocrine, psychological, and pharmacological agents.

The period in the MENSTRUAL CYCLE that is optimal for FERTILIZATION of the OVUM and yielding PREGNANCY. The duration of fertile period depends on the life span of male GAMETES within the female reproductive tract and the time of OVULATION. It usually begins a few days before ovulation and ends on the day of ovulation.

Predicting the time of OVULATION can be achieved by measuring the preovulatory elevation of ESTRADIOL; LUTEINIZING HORMONE or other hormones in BLOOD or URINE. Accuracy of ovulation prediction depends on the completeness of the hormone profiles, and the ability to determine the preovulatory LH peak.

Method to determine the occurrence of OVULATION by direct or indirect means. Indirect methods examine the effects of PROGESTERONE on cervical mucus (CERVIX MUCUS), or basal body temperature. Direct ovulation detection, generally used in fertility treatment, involves analyses of circulating hormones in blood and ULTRASONOGRAPHY.

Techniques for the artifical induction of ovulation, the rupture of the follicle and release of the ovum.
