Impact of Chemotherapy on Ovarian Reserve in Young Women With Breast Cancer

2014-08-27 03:14:01 | BioPortfolio

Summary

The aim of this protocol is to study the deleterious impact of adjuvant chemotherapy on ovarian reserve in young women suffering from breast cancer. A new relevant ovarian reserve marker, serum Anti-Mullerian Hormone, will be used in order to evaluate precisely the impact of chemotherapy on ovaries during chemotherapy administrations and after during follow-up (24 months). This strategy offers 2 main advantages : no modification of the traditional care of patients (treatment, organisation, follow up …) and use of a non invasive marker (serum). The final objective is to give precise information to patients on their future fertility after remission.

Are age and anti-Müllerian hormone good predictors of ovarian reserve and response in women undergoing IVF?

Ovarian reserve evaluation has been the focus of substantial clinical research for several years. This study aimed to examine the associations between markers of ovarian reserve and ovarian response.

Endometrioma-related reduction in ovarian reserve (ERROR): a prospective longitudinal study.

Postponing Childbearing and Fertility Preservation in Young Professional Women.

To evaluate young women's awareness of ovarian reserve testing and oocyte cryopreservation (OC) and assess how testing ovarian reserve may affect the desire for fertility preservation.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Capacity of the ovary to provide viable eggs.

Cessation of ovarian function after MENARCHE but before the age of 40, without or with OVARIAN FOLLICLE depletion. It is characterized by the presence of OLIGOMENORRHEA or AMENORRHEA, elevated GONADOTROPINS, and low ESTRADIOL levels. It is a state of female HYPERGONADOTROPIC HYPOGONADISM. Etiologies include genetic defects, autoimmune processes, chemotherapy, radiation, and infections.

The volume of air contained in the lungs at the end of a maximal inspiration. It is the equivalent to each of the following sums: VITAL CAPACITY plus RESIDUAL VOLUME; INSPIRATORY CAPACITY plus FUNCTIONAL RESIDUAL CAPACITY; TIDAL VOLUME plus INSPIRATORY RESERVE VOLUME plus functional residual capacity; or tidal volume plus inspiratory reserve volume plus EXPIRATORY RESERVE VOLUME plus residual volume.

A complication of OVULATION INDUCTION in infertility treatment. It is graded by the severity of symptoms which include OVARY enlargement, multiple OVARIAN FOLLICLES; OVARIAN CYSTS; ASCITES; and generalized EDEMA. The full-blown syndrome may lead to RENAL FAILURE, respiratory distress, and even DEATH. Increased capillary permeability is caused by the vasoactive substances, such as VASCULAR ENDOTHELIAL GROWTH FACTORS, secreted by the overly-stimulated OVARIES.
