The specific aim is to evaluate the impact of PCV13 as administered in the pediatric primary care clinic at Boston medical center on the serotype specific carriage of Streptococcus pneumoniae in children < 5 and their parents.
Specifically the investigators will measure the decline in vaccine serotypes, the proportion of children receiving vaccine required to achieve 50% reduction in serotype specific carriage and the correlation between immunogenicity of the specific serotypes and decline in carriage.

This study is to observe the carriage rate ofStreptococcus pneumoniae (S.p.), Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) and Moraxella catarrhalis （M.Cat） in healthy Chinese children aged 12-...
Evaluation of the carriage rate of Streptococcus pneumoniae in the nasopharynx of healthy children and the carriage rate and distribution of Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes
This study will follow 1000 refugee infants from birth for two years. The aim of the study is to better understand why some children develop infections caused by the bacterium Streptococcu...
Two( 2) or three (3) instead of four vaccinations before the age of 6 months with pneumococcal conjugate vaccine are presumed to protect children against invasive pneumococcal disease like...
The aim of this study is to evaluate the nasopharyngeal (NP) carriage prevalence, serotype distribution and antimicrobial resistance of Streptococcus pneumoniae (SP) in children with chronic diseases ...
Nasopharyngeal colonization precedes infections caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae. A more detailed understanding of interactions between S. pneumoniae and the nasopharyngeal microbiota of children co...
Four main processes determine pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) antibiotic-nonsusceptible Streptococcus pneumoniae (ANSP) carriage: reduction of PCV serotypes, increase of non-PCV serotypes, potent...
Pneumococcal carriage is the precursor for development of pneumococcal disease, and is also responsible for transmission of the organism from person-to-person. Individuals with Sickle Cell Disease (SC...
Comparison of early effects of pneumococcal conjugate vaccines: PCV7, PCV10 and PCV13 on Streptococcus pneumoniae nasopharyngeal carriage in a population based study; The Palestinian-Israeli Collaborative Research (PICR).
Pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCVs), PCV10 and PCV13, are currently used in different countries. We have previously reported the effectiveness of PCV7, following its introduction in Israel and befo...
Tumors or cancer of the NASOPHARYNX.
Pathological processes involving the NASOPHARYNX.
Systematic physical exercise. This includes calisthenics, a system of light gymnastics for promoting strength and grace of carriage.
A member of the family PARVOVIRIDAE, subfamily PARVOVIRINAE, originally isolated from human nasopharyngeal aspirates in patients with respiratory disease.
A POSTURE in which an ideal body mass distribution is achieved. Postural balance provides the body carriage stability and conditions for normal functions in stationary position or in movement, such as sitting, standing, or walking.
Pediatrics is the general medicine of childhood. Because of the developmental processes (psychological and physical) of childhood, the involvement of parents, and the social management of conditions at home and at school, pediatrics is a specialty. With ...
