Summary

Radiochemotherapy is a standard for the treatment of unresectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer. The investigators goal is to study the efficacy and the toxicity for a promising association of new agents (cetuximab and pemetrexed) with concurrent radiotherapy.

The results of the randomized phase 3 CREST trial evaluating the use of thoracic radiotherapy for extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC) were published in the Lancet in 2015. The primary end...

Induction Chemo-radiation (50Gy) Followed by Surgery for Stage IIIA-N2 Non-small Cell Lung Cancer.

The optimal therapeutic strategy for potentially resectable clinical (c-) stage IIIA-N2 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains controversial. This phase II multi-institutional study (WJOG5308L) wa...

Radiation Dose and Fractionation for Limited-stage Small-cell Lung Cancer: Survey of US Radiation Oncologists on Practice Patterns.

Thoracic radiotherapy (TRT) with concurrent chemotherapy is standard for limited-stage small-cell lung cancer (LS-SCLC). However, the optimal dosing and fractionation remain unclear. The National Comp...

The optimal treatment for hilar or mediastinal lymph node (LN) recurrence developing after stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for stage I non-small cell lung cancer remains unclear. This study eval...

Concurrent daily Cisplatin and high dose radiotherapy in patients with stage III non-small cell lung cancer.

To determine survival, local and distant control, toxicity and prognostic factors in patients with stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated with concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT).

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Radiotherapy given to augment some other form of treatment such as surgery or chemotherapy. Adjuvant radiotherapy is commonly used in the therapy of cancer and can be administered before or after the primary treatment.

Malignant neoplasm arising from the epithelium of the BRONCHI. It represents a large group of epithelial lung malignancies which can be divided into two clinical groups: SMALL CELL LUNG CANCER and NON-SMALL-CELL LUNG CARCINOMA.

A form of highly malignant lung cancer that is composed of small ovoid cells (SMALL CELL CARCINOMA).

A heterogeneous aggregate of at least three distinct histological types of lung cancer, including SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA; ADENOCARCINOMA; and LARGE CELL CARCINOMA. They are dealt with collectively because of their shared treatment strategy.

Combined chemotherapy and radiotherapy given to augment some other form of treatment such as surgery. It is commonly used in the therapy of cancer.
