The objective of this study is to estimate the effect of lersivirine on the pharmacokinetics of R-methadone and S-methadone and to investigate the safety and tolerability of lersivirine when co-administered with methadone. Symptoms of methadone withdrawal will also be assessed.
Allocation: Non-Randomized, Endpoint Classification: Pharmacokinetics Study, Intervention Model: Crossover Assignment, Masking: Open Label, Primary Purpose: Treatment

Evaluation whether higher retention rate is in those of combined methadone with N-Acetyl-Cysteine compared to those with methadone alone during a six-month study.
The purpose of this study is to determine the safest dose of d-methadone that can be given, without causing severe side effects in most patients with chronic pain. Patients are being asked...
To determine whether methadone maintenance alters the pharmacokinetics of zidovudine (AZT). To determine whether any such effect of methadone on disposition of AZT is time dependent and wh...
The purpose of this study is to see if it is safe to combine methadone with two HIV protease inhibitors (PIs), ritonavir (RTV) and saquinavir (SQV), in HIV-infected patients not currently ...
This is a randomized Phase II study testing the effectiveness of the combination of morphine and methadone versus morphine alone in relieving pain. A second goal is to further evaluate any...
We conducted two phase I trials to evaluate the pharmacokinetic interactions between elbasvir (EBR), grazoprevir (GZR), and methadone (MK-8742-P010 and MK-5172-P030) in non-hepatitis C virus (HCV)-inf...
Methadone is a long-acting opioid known for its unique pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties. Most research on methadone in children is limited to its effect on the prolongation of the correc...
Evidence from various studies suggests that narcotics abuse may exert adverse immunomodulatory effects on immune responses. The aim of this research was to understand the effects of detoxification wit...
Free chlorine sunlight photolysis (sunlight/FC) markedly enhances the degradation rate of methadone, a synthetic opioid used medically, over that obtained using sunlight alone. The pseudo-first-order ...
There is no countable biomarker for opioid dependence treatment responses thus far. In this study, we recruited Taiwanese methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) patients to search for genes involving t...
A synthetic opioid that is used as the hydrochloride. It is an opioid analgesic that is primarily a mu-opioid agonist. It has actions and uses similar to those of MORPHINE. It also has a depressant action on the cough center and may be given to control intractable cough associated with terminal lung cancer. Methadone is also used as part of the treatment of dependence on opioid drugs, although prolonged use of methadone itself may result in dependence. (From Martindale, The Extra Pharmacopoeia, 30th ed, p1082-3)
Persons with no known significant health problems who are recruited to participate in research to test a new drug, device, or intervention as controls for a patient group. (from http://clinicalcenter.nih.gov/recruit/volunteers.html, accessed 2/14/2013)
An opioid analgesic structurally related to METHADONE and used in the treatment of severe pain. (From Martindale, The Extra Pharmacopoeia, 30th ed, p1070)
Medical treatment for opioid dependence using a substitute opiate such as METHADONE or BUPRENORPHINE.
Health facilities providing therapy and/or rehabilitation for substance-dependent individuals. Methadone distribution centers are included.
Within medicine, nutrition (the study of food and the effect of its components on the body) has many different roles. Appropriate nutrition can help prevent certain diseases, or treat others. In critically ill patients, artificial feeding by tubes need t...
