The primary purpose of this study is to help answer the following research question(s):
- To see how the body absorbs, processes, and gets rid of cetuximab when the drug is taken in combination with cisplatin [pharmacokinetic (PK) analysis]
- To see if any drug interactions occur between cetuximab and cisplatin.
Allocation: Randomized, Control: Active Control, Endpoint Classification: Pharmacokinetics/Dynamics Study, Intervention Model: Parallel Assignment, Masking: Open Label

Paclitaxel, Carboplatin and Cetuximab (PCC) Versus Cetuximab, Docetaxel, Cisplatin and Fluorouracil (C-TPF) in Previously Untreated Patients With Locally Advanced Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma (HNSCC)
The goal of this clinical research study is to learn which chemotherapy combination is more effective in treating locally advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. The side effects ...
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel, cisplatin, and fluorouracil, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping ...
RATIONALE: Monoclonal antibodies such as cetuximab can locate tumor cells and either kill them or deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. Drugs used in chemo...
This phase two trial will determine the tumor response rate at the primary site and at involved regional nodes to two cycles of an IC regimen of weekly Abraxane and cetuximab given in comb...
The optimal regimen of chemotherapy and re-irradiation (re-XRT) for recurrent head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is controversial. We report the final outcomes of a multi-center Phase II tr...
The benefit of adding docetaxel, cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil (TPF) induction chemotherapy to chemoradiotherapy (CRT) in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) remains uncertain. We aimed to in...
Three-dimensional reconstruction of the enhanced CT is increasingly becoming a valuable tool in head and neck neoplasms. The aim of this study is to reconstruct three-dimensional imaging of tumor and ...
Targeting of αVβ3 and αVβ5 integrins by cilengitide may reduce growth of solid tumors including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Preclinical investigations suggest increased activity...
Dual Targeting of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor and HER3 by MEHD7945A as Monotherapy or in Combination with Cisplatin Partially Overcomes Cetuximab Resistance in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma Cell Lines.
Aberrant signaling of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) plays a crucial role in the tumorigenesis of many cancer types, including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), making it a c...
Soft tissue tumors or cancer arising from the mucosal surfaces of the LIP; oral cavity; PHARYNX; LARYNX; and cervical esophagus. Other sites included are the NOSE and PARANASAL SINUSES; SALIVARY GLANDS; THYROID GLAND and PARATHYROID GLANDS; and MELANOMA and non-melanoma skin cancers of the head and neck. Dissection in the neck to remove all disease tissues including cervical LYMPH NODES and to leave an adequate margin of normal tissue. This type of surgery is usually used in tumors or cervical metastases in the head and neck. The prototype of neck dissection is the radical neck dissection described by Crile in 1906.
An inorganic and water-soluble platinum complex. After undergoing hydrolysis, it reacts with DNA to produce both intra and interstrand crosslinks. These crosslinks appear to impair replication and transcription of DNA. The cytotoxicity of cisplatin correlates with cellular arrest in the G2 phase of the cell cycle.
Discharge of cerebrospinal fluid through the nose. Common etiologies include trauma, neoplasms, and prior surgery, although the condition may occur spontaneously. (Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg 1997 Apr;116(4):442-9)
Congener of FLUOROURACIL with comparable antineoplastic action. It has been suggested especially for the treatment of breast neoplasms.
