A Study of Low-Dose Decitabine in Relapsed or Refractory Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL)

The goal of this clinical research study is to find the safety of decitabine in patients with acute lymphocytic leukemia. Upon agreement of the patient, additional blood and bone marrow sa...

Bone Marrow Transplantation in Treating Patients With Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining chemotherapy with bone marrow transplantation may allow t...

Cyclophosphamide and Total Body Irradiation in Treating Patients Who Are Undergoing an Autologous Peripheral Stem Cell Transplant For Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

RATIONALE: Giving chemotherapy before a peripheral stem cell transplant stops the growth of cancer cells by stopping them from dividing or killing them. Giving colony-stimulating factors, ...

Banking of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Tumor Cells for Vaccine Generation

The purpose of this research study is to collect, freeze and store leukemia cells from the blood or bone marrow of patients that have advanced chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) that is no...

Cancer Stem Cells in Acute Leukemia

Descriptive study of acute leukemia patients. Bone marrow aspirate or peripheral blood samples will be analyzed by next-generation sequencing for novel gene signatures and variations in tr...

Comparison of bone turnover markers in peripheral blood and bone marrow aspirate.

Bone remodeling takes place in the bone marrow environment. We investigated if levels of bone turnover markers (BTMs) differ between bone marrow and peripheral blood, if the bone marrow is an independ...

Bone Marrow versus Peripheral Blood from Unrelated Donors for Children and Adolescents with Acute Leukemia.

As graft versus host disease (GVHD) rates are higher after unrelated donor transplantation, we examined whether there would be differences in transplant outcomes by graft type in children and adolesce...

Are clonal cells circulating in the peripheral blood of myelodysplastic syndrome?: Quantitative comparison between bone marrow and peripheral blood by targeted gene sequencing and fluorescence in situ hybridization.

Peripheral Blood versus Bone Marrow from Unrelated Donors: Bone Marrow allografts have improved Long-term Overall and Graft-versus-Host Disease, Relapse-Free Survival.

Peripheral Blood (PB) or Bone Marrow (BM) from unrelated donors can serve as a graft source for hematopoietic cell transplantation. Currently, PB is most commonly used in roughly 80% of adult recipien...

CCR2 upregulated on peripheral T cells in osteoarthritis but not in bone marrow.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a condition affecting millions of patients around the world, causing pain and disability and often resulting in joint replacement surgery. The aetiology of OA has long been attr...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A chronic leukemia characterized by abnormal B-lymphocytes and often generalized lymphadenopathy. In patients presenting predominately with blood and bone marrow involvement it is called chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL); in those predominately with enlarged lymph nodes it is called small lymphocytic lymphoma. These terms represent spectrums of the same disease.

An acute myeloid leukemia in which 20-30% of the bone marrow or peripheral blood cells are of megakaryocyte lineage. MYELOFIBROSIS or increased bone marrow RETICULIN is common.

Conditions in which the abnormalities in the peripheral blood or bone marrow represent the early manifestations of acute leukemia, but in which the changes are not of sufficient magnitude or specificity to permit a diagnosis of acute leukemia by the usual clinical criteria.

A myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative disorder characterized by myelodysplasia associated with bone marrow and peripheral blood patterns similar to CHRONIC MYELOID LEUKEMIA, but cytogenetically lacking a PHILADELPHIA CHROMOSOME or bcr/abl fusion gene (GENES, ABL).

Transplantation of stem cells collected from the peripheral blood. It is a less invasive alternative to direct marrow harvesting of hematopoietic stem cells. Enrichment of stem cells in peripheral blood can be achieved by inducing mobilization of stem cells from the BONE MARROW.
