Effects of Maraviroc vs. Efavirenz on CD4/CD8 Ratio

A low CD4/CD8 ratio is considered a surrogate marker of immunosenescence and is an independent predictor of non-AIDS-related morbidity and mortality. Given the strong clinical implications...

Same-Day Treatment With Genvoya vs. EFV/TDF/3TC

Randomized, open-label study comparing Elvitegravir-Cobicistat-Tenofovir Alafenamide-Emtricitabine (Genvoya) vs. Efavirenz-Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate-Lamivudine (EFV-TDF-3TC) in patient...

Antiretroviral Treatment Simplification Study With Efavirenz + Abacavir + 3TC Once Daily

To evaluate the proportion of patients with virological failure after 48 weeks of treatment with the combination of efavirenz 600 mg + lamivudine (3TC) 300 mg + abacavir 600 mg once daily ...

FOTO: Five Consecutive Days on Treatment With Efavirenz, Tenofovir, and Emtricitabine Followed by Two Days Off Treatment Versus Continuous Treatment

For people with HIV who are currently taking specific medications (including Sustiva (efavirenz)) and have no detectable viral load, this study tracks how patients do if they take their me...

Once a Day (QD) - Twice a Day (BID) Clinical Trial: Didanosine, Lamivudine and Efavirenz Versus Zidovudine, Lamivudine and Efavirenz in the Starting Treatment of HIV

The purpose of this study is to compare the antiviral activity of two treatment groups for HIV chronic infection: a QD regimen of didanosine, lamivudine and efavirenz versus a BID regimen ...

Efavirenz Therapeutic Range in HIV-1 Treatment-Naive Participants.

Efavirenz is currently suggested as an alternative to recommended antiretroviral (ARV) regimens by the Department of Health and Human Services for the treatment of HIV-1 in ARV-naive patients. A mid-d...

Virologic suppression and CD4 cell count recovery after initiation of raltegravir- or efavirenz- containing HIV treatment regimens.

To explore the effectiveness of raltegravir-based antiretroviral therapy (ART) on treatment response among ART-naive patients seeking routine clinical care.

Pharmacokinetics of efavirenz in patients on antituberculosis treatment in high HIV and tuberculosis burden countries: a systematic review.

Efavirenz (EFV) and Rifampicin-Isoniazid (RH) are cornerstone drugs in HIV-tuberculosis (TB) co-infection treatment but with complex drug interactions, efficacy and safety challenges. We reviewed rece...

Efavirenz precipitating hallucinations in a patient with an undetected psychotic prodrome: a call for better screening at the point of care.

Heart failure in persons living with HIV infection.

To discuss presentation, pathophysiology, complications, and treatment of heart failure in persons living with HIV (PLWHIV) in the antiretroviral therapy (ART) era.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A prodromal phase of infection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Laboratory criteria separating AIDS-related complex (ARC) from AIDS include elevated or hyperactive B-cell humoral immune responses, compared to depressed or normal antibody reactivity in AIDS; follicular or mixed hyperplasia in ARC lymph nodes, leading to lymphocyte degeneration and depletion more typical of AIDS; evolving succession of histopathological lesions such as localization of Kaposi's sarcoma, signaling the transition to the full-blown AIDS.

Immunologic tests for identification of HIV (HTLV-III/LAV) antibodies. They include assays for HIV SEROPOSITIVITY and HIV SERONEGATIVITY; (ELISA, immunofluorescence, immunoblot, etc.) that have been developed for screening persons carrying the viral antibody from patients with overt symptoms of AIDS or AIDS-RELATED COMPLEX.

Rare and often fatal drug complication which affects patients undergoing long-term treatment with high doses of PROPOFOL. It is characterized by METABOLIC ACIDOSIS; HYPERLIPIDEMIA; RHABDOMYOLYSIS; cardiovascular CIRCULATORY COLLAPSE; CARDIAC FAILURE; and KIDNEY FAILURE.

Failure to respond to two or more trials of antidepressant monotherapy or failure to respond to four or more trials of different antidepressant therapies. (Campbell's Psychiatric Dictionary, 9th ed.)

A semisynthetic digitalis glycoside with the general properties of DIGOXIN but more rapid onset of action. Its cardiotonic action is prolonged by its demethylation to DIGOXIN in the liver. It has been used in the treatment of congestive heart failure (HEART FAILURE).
