Study of Efficacy and Safety of LCZ696 in Japanese Patients With Chronic Heart Failure and Reduced Ejection Fraction

The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of LCZ696 at a target dose of 200 mg b.i.d. compared to enalapril 10 mg b.i.d., in addition to the background heart failure (HF) treatment...

Study of Effects of Sacubitril/Valsartan vs. Enalapril on Aortic Stiffness in Patients With Mild to Moderate HF With Reduced Ejection Fraction

To determine whether treatment with sacubitril/valsartan provides a superior effect on aortic characteristic impedance compared to enalapril in patients with heart failure and reduced ejec...

comParIson Of Sacubitril/valsartaN Versus Enalapril on Effect on ntpRo-bnp in Patients Stabilized From an Acute Heart Failure Episode

The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of in-hospital initiation of sacubitril/valsartan (LCZ696) vs. enalapril on time averaged proportional change in NT-proBNP in patients who...

randOmized stUdy Using acceleromeTry to Compare Sacubitril/valsarTan and Enalapril in Patients With Heart Failure

The purpose of this randomized, actively controlled, double-blind study is to demonstrate the superiority of sacubitril/valsartan over enalapril in increasing non-sedentary physical activi...

Study on the Effects of Sacubitril/Valsartan on Physical Activity and Sleep in Heart Failure With Reduced Ejection Fraction Patients.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of initiation of sacubitril/valsartan vs enalapril treatment on objective measures of both waking activity and sleep in subjects wit...

How are patients with heart failure treated in primary care?
.

The aim of this study was to assess the adherence of general practitioners (GPs) to guidelines in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and to describe GPs' prescribing be...

Adiposity and Incident Heart Failure and its Subtypes: MESA (Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis).

The aim of this paper is to compare various measures of adiposity with risk for incident hospitalized heart failure (HF) with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).

Low utilization of beta blockers among Medicare beneficiaries hospitalized for heart failure with reduced ejection fraction.

The evidence-based beta blockers carvedilol, bisoprolol, and metoprolol succinate reduce mortality and hospitalizations among patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Use of...

Sympathetic and baroreflex alterations in congestive heart failure with preserved, midrange and reduced ejection fraction.

Although abnormalities in reflex sympathetic neural function represent a hallmark of heart failure, no information is available on the neuroadrenergic and baroreflex function in heart failure with pre...

Liraglutide and weight loss among patients with advanced heart failure and a reduced ejection fraction: insights from the FIGHT trial.

Obesity is present in up to 45% of patients with heart failure (HF). Liraglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor antagonist, facilitates weight loss in obese patients. The efficacy of lira...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A condition in which the RIGHT VENTRICLE of the heart was functionally impaired. This condition usually leads to HEART FAILURE or MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION, and other cardiovascular complications. Diagnosis is made by measuring the diminished ejection fraction and a depressed level of motility of the right ventricular wall.

A condition in which the LEFT VENTRICLE of the heart was functionally impaired. This condition usually leads to HEART FAILURE; MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION; and other cardiovascular complications. Diagnosis is made by measuring the diminished ejection fraction and a depressed level of motility of the left ventricular wall.

A heterogeneous condition in which the heart is unable to pump out sufficient blood to meet the metabolic need of the body. Heart failure can be caused by structural defects, functional abnormalities (VENTRICULAR DYSFUNCTION), or a sudden overload beyond its capacity. Chronic heart failure is more common than acute heart failure which results from sudden insult to cardiac function, such as MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION.

The active metabolite of ENALAPRIL and a potent intravenously administered angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor. It is an effective agent for the treatment of essential hypertension and has beneficial hemodynamic effects in heart failure. The drug produces renal vasodilation with an increase in sodium excretion.

Enlargement of the HEART, usually indicated by a cardiothoracic ratio above 0.50. Heart enlargement may involve the right, the left, or both HEART VENTRICLES or HEART ATRIA. Cardiomegaly is a nonspecific symptom seen in patients with chronic systolic heart failure (HEART FAILURE) or several forms of CARDIOMYOPATHIES.
