The increase of the life expectancy awoke interest by the state of the human ageing. Like this, it proposes it be investigated itself exists relation between two pathologies specially frequent in the women: the osteoporosis and the temporomandibular disorders (TMD). The objective will be analyze-them in assembly, since the level of the female sexual hormones itself sample intimate related to the two illnesses. They will be examined 100 patients attended in the Discipline of Gynecology of the FMUSP, with age between 48 and 70 years, bearers or not of osteoporosis evaluated by means of densitometry bone of the lap of the femur and of the lumbar column, with or without symptoms aching midfacial and/or of the TMJ. The Index Craniomandibular and the Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders will be the clinical tests utilized for verify the rank of severity of the TMD, as well like for diagnose it. Those approaches will be applied by an only examiner, properly coached. Of the 100 women, 30 will be submitted to the magnetic nuclear resonance of the joints, in the Institute of Radiology of the Hospital of the Clinics of the FMUSP, for that the performance of the clinical approaches be analyzed. The evaluation of the images will be deed for two professionals that will not have knowledge about the facts of the clinical exams. The results of the comparisons between the images of the 30 patients and the clinical finds of all the women included in the study will be submitted to lined, adequate statistical tests in the beginnings of the practical clinical one based in evidence, seeking identify eventual association between the osteoporosis and to TMD, as well like for detect the clinical approach more accurate for evaluate the perturbations of the TMJ and of the structures associated.
